Nikolai's POV

Jennifer had long made her exit as we finished our meals. The evening time had grown into night as we sat alone quietly without disturbance.

I was starting to grow calm but I could still feel the shock inside of my body. I just could not believe he was sitting there with me. His presence was unbelievable, and there I was in the midst of music royalty.

"So here we are.." Prince said while taking a sip from his glass. "You're awfully quiet."

"Pardon me, I'm sorry, it's just.." I paused while trying to collect my thoughts. "I'm sort of a quiet person when you first meet me, and to be frank, I'm still a bit in shock."

"I understand. And that is why we decided to go about the process the way we did. You're not afraid are you? I mean you almost ran out of here."

"Afraid? No. I'm not afraid. I was just taken back honestly. It takes some time for me to open up, but I will be fine."

"How about now?"

I looked down quickly as I could before placing my straw to my lips

I looked down quickly as I could before placing my straw to my lips. There was no way I could stare back at him for any lengthy period of time.

"How about now what?" I asked as I pretended to be a bit distracted by rolling up the sleeves of my jacket.

"How about now you start to open up to me? I'm not asking you to tell me everything but I want you to be comfortable. Tell me about yourself, growing up, anything that you're ok with sharing."

"Okay." I smiled as I shifted in my seat. "I'm the second of two children, the only girl... and I've been designing since I was seven."

"Seven?" He asked curiously with a quick lick to his lips. "That's very young, means you've known what you've wanted to do for quite some time."

"Not exactly. My career choices have not been a walk in the park."

"Care to elaborate?"

"We both know that once I was offered the job, I didn't accept it right off. See, my father has always wanted me to be a nurse. He comes from a long line of them and my mother is a nurse as well so he felt it was right that his only daughter followed suit. I was actually accepted to the program, and when I told him I'd be leaving for this job, he wasn't thrilled about it at all."

"He took the news pretty bad huh?"

"Definitely." I nodded. "He's been very tough on my brother and I, authoritarian and religion at it's best."
