Nikolai's POV

"Brett?" I softly called out after shutting the door to the bedroom of my rental.

He stood up as my feet quickly padded across the cold, tiled floor.

"You've been crying haven't you?" Brett asked.

I didn't mumble a single word. My cheeks were dampened as I wiped the remaining tears away. Sitting down I glanced at my assistant, a look of concern heavily covered his face.

"Mann Tracht, Un Gott Lacht"

"What?" Brett's face changed from concern to confusion.

"A Yiddish phrase meaning make plans, and God laughs."

"I see. Is that what you're feeling?"

"One hundred percent. I've gone from a shy, sheltered girl that always seemed to want to please everyone else but herself, to this outspoken, outgoing woman that's fearless and brave. Well, up until ten minutes ago. This wasn't apart of the plan. Not yet at least."

"Curveballs." Brett smiled. "Quick to alter whatever plans you have but like mother always says, it's for a reason."

"Your mother is a very wise woman."

"Indeed. But mademoiselle there's one determining question that's burning to be answered."

"What's the question?"

"Tears of sadness or tears of happiness?"

"You probably have the craziest love life I've ever heard of! At least you and Tyler ended things mutually."

"I couldn't say anything but wow. And being angry was a definite no because we both did the same thing. So I'm sure he's back in her arms now, he deserves to be happy."

"What about you?" Wendy asked. "You deserve to be happy as well."

"I know. But their situation is no where near as complicated as mine. I don't know what to do."

"Nik what is it that you want most?"

"Happiness."

"Does unpronounceable make you happy?"

"For God's sake Wendy if we're going to be having a serious conversation you can't crack jokes like that."

"Alright fine!" Wendy laughed. "Does Prince make you happy? The meeting was a success, how did you feel then?"

"Overwhelmed to say the least. But I'm no longer harping on any anger. It's not healthy. But my main issue is trusting him. If that problem didn't stand, I would've been taken him back."

"That's understandable. I guess you just have to decide if you're willing to take that chance again. Does he seem sincere?"

"He's being sincere, there's no doubt in my mind. The issue really doesn't have anything to do with him at this point, this is all me. I don't know how anyone finds it in themselves to give second chances after that. I mean, I watched this ruin the marriage between my parents."
