Nikolai's POVIt was finally Spring Break and we were in Minnesota. After an almost 19 hour drive, we arrived on the 9th and settled in at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Tuesday night arrived and the youth conference was in full effect. After a day of worship and sightseeing, we were all pretty much worn out. My body was beyond tired but my brain was as wired up than I'd ever imagine. Thursday was the big day, and my nerves were on edge.
"Why did I even let y'all talk me into this?" I asked while narrowing my eyes at Wendy.
She looked at me trying her best to hold in her grin. "You're about to chicken out, aren't you?"
"Um yes! Isn't it obvious?"
"Nik just think, this could be amazing! You're worrying too much."
I rolled my eyes before plopping my head unto the pillow.
"I wonder who it is..."
"Who knows.." said Wendy. "I hope he's cute, give you something fine to work with."
"Oh God. That isn't my concern, whoever it is? I will keep it 100% professional."
"Hmph" Wendy grumbled as she got up walking over to the garbage can.
"So what all are we doing tomorrow? I know a few people were wondering could we travel out to Prince's place, Paisley Park."
My body sat up so quickly as my eyes grew extremely large.
"Prince?" I asked to make sure I heard her correctly.
"Yes Prince. The one you saw with Brittany last summer."
"He lives here?!"
"Uh yes! He always has. I forgot you were a martian."
"Very funny. He's so easy on the eyes."
"Imagine working for him!" Wendy said as she began brushing out her hair. "That's a job I'm sure most would fight for..."
I nodded in agreement. "I can't believe they've come up with the grand idea of going to his home. There's just no way dad would let that happen, they'd have to sneak off or something."
"Speaking of sneaking off, have you given any thought as to what excuse you're going to give on Thursday?"
"Nope, I don't have a clue. Remember when I spoke to Jennifer yesterday? She gave me the time and told me to meet her at the Marquette Hotel."
"Job interview at a hotel? That's different. The Marquette sounds real fancy too."
"Doesn't it? We're going to have to take a cab there. The interview is scheduled for 1:30 but we have to be back before 3, because everyone would be arriving back from conference activities by then."
"Sounds like a plan. I think you should go with the good ol' cramps excuse. Works like a charm every time. Especially on men.."
"Good idea..." I said tugging on my pajama pants. "Let's get some sleep, I need to prepare for all of this."
