Where It All Began (1/6)

{Parts 1-6 are flashbacks}

"Lauren, where are my Gucci slides!" Trevor yelled from upstairs down at Lauren who's cooking in the kitchen.

"Boy, why you asking me?" She retorted.

He made his way downstairs, obviously heated about his lost slides. "Cause, you stay borrowing my shit and never putting them back where it's supposed to be!"

As my younger siblings went back and forth on where 'Gucci slides' may or may not have been, I looked at my phone and my best friend, Kennedy was calling me. I ran upstairs to my room to get away from all the yelling going on between Trevor and Lauren about slides that probably weren't even real Gucci.

I got into my room and closed the door behind me. "Hello?" I answered.

Kennedy:"Sash, you got 30 minutes to get ready. I'm about to come pick you up right now!"  She exclaimed in excitement through the phone.

I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Kennedy, what's going on now? What did you do and why can't I drive my own car?"

Kennedy:"Ok Sash, first of all, I ain't do nothing and secondly, you know damn well Shad's bum ass is probably borrowing your car right now, flexing all around L.A like it's his."

I rolled my eyes and sighed cause she was right. My other annoying younger brother, Shad, has been borrowing my Mercedes since his car got repossessed not too long ago. "You're not even lying." I agreed with Kennedy's comment. "But where are we going? Why do you sound so excited?"

Kennedy:"Girl I'm taking you to the mall to get a dress. You're coming to this event with me tonight."  I could sense her big ass grin through the phone.

I chuckled at her excitement. "What event is this and why can't I wear any of my regular dresses?"

Kennedy: "Exactly! Keyword "Regular"! We're not going to just any event, Sash."

I knew she literally got promoted not too long ago and was now working for Epic Records. If I'm guessing right, this event probably has something to do with her job. "What event Kennedy?!" I asked anxiously.

Kennedy:"Epic and Capitol Records are putting together a charity gala tonight in Beverly Hills and since I'm one of the new secretary's at Epic, they invited me to come and told me I could bring a plus one."

My mood automatically changed and I was just as excited as her. "Kennedy are you serious?" I took the phone from my ear and placed it on speaker before tossing it on my bed. "This is huge!" I scurried around to find some clothes to change into. "What time does it start?"

Kennedy:"Yes, bitch! It starts at 7:00 but we have to be in our seats by 6:30. It's about to be 2:00 so we gotta get to the mall and get what we need to slay tonight." I could hear that she entered her car by the sound of the car door slamming shut.

As I'm retouching my eyeliner in the mirror, I began to realize that these two record companies are two of the biggest in music history. The stars that are attached to these labels made me bubble with joy all over again. "Kennedy, are you saying that we'll be rubbing elbows with some of the biggest artist out right now?" I sounded like I was fangirling.

Kennedy:"BITCH, YES!" She fangirled along with me and I laughed. "I saw the list at work this morning and I almost fell out girl! Every single artist that's signed to these labels will be in attendance and a few other celebrity actors. I mean, my baby Bruno Mars will be there, Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige , The Weeknd, J-LO, Drake, Mariah Carey, Janet and Michael Jackson..."
