Sasha's Point Of View
All I heard was screaming and yelling. All of which was coming from Michael.
I jumped out of bed, my heart racing, wondering what in heaven's name could be going on downstairs. Michael sounded hysterical.
I was getting flashbacks of when he found out Jermaine betrayed him through the media.
I wrapped my hair in a bun and slid my feet into my slippers before rushing downstairs to see what was going on.
As soon as I got to the living room and my eyes met with his, he started going off on me.
"You knew about this too?" He waved this small black box in the air while he ranted angrily. "Out of everyone in the world already betraying me, this is what you guys do to me?"
"What the fuck is this nigga talking about?" I looked at Trevor and Lauren.
Confused was an understatement.
"Mike, if you just stop yelling for a second and just let me explain," Lauren said in a calm voice.
"What's going on?" I asked again.
"This ring!" Michael popped open the small box and my jaw almost falls to the floor. "I was robbed of this ring and I would've never thought it would be by people in this house. I was going to propose to you with this ring. I bought this ring for you."
I was speechless.
I wasn't sure if it was because I was genuinely confused or if it was the fact that he just said he was going to propose to me with that very beautiful blue diamond ring.
"No one in this house robbed you, Michael." Lauren was close to tears. "We would never betray you like that. I found this in Andre's safe when Trevor and I went back to the house for the first time since he died."
"Wait, you went back to the house? When was this?" I frowned, even more confused.
"And what was it doing in his safe?" Michael huffed. He was so angry, he looked like he just ran a marathon. That's how hard he was breathing.
"Just read this letter, bro," Trevor handed him this letter and Michael looked at him confused, before opening it and reading it.
"What the fuck is going on?" I mouthed to Lauren as Michael read through the letter trevor handed him.
Lauren just stood there with teary eyes, watching Michael read the letter.
I looked back at Michael and I began to see his demeanor change. His face softened and tears welled up in his eyes but it was obvious to everyone that he was trying so hard to contain his emotions and not burst into tears.
By the end of the letter, he sighed and slumped down on the couch. He handed Trevor back the letter and just placed his head in his hands. "Why didn't he say who stole from me? If Jermaine was behind this, how did he even know I had the ring?"
"Mike," Lauren went over and sat right next to him, placing her hand on his shoulder, "I would never ever steal from you. No one in this family would betray you like that. My plan was to tell you about the ring as soon as I read the letter but I ended up losing the ring. I honestly thought I lost it in a public area because it was in Raelynn's bag. I would've never thought it was in the study. I honestly can't even remember how it would even get there in the first place."
Michael just looked at her. He was processing everything she just told him.
"I swear on my parents' grave, Michael." Tears ran down Lauren's face. "You know I would never bring my parents up if I weren't being honest."
