Friend In Me.

*Sisilia's POV*

"Alright!" John shouted standing on a wooden chair, almost swaying of balance, to get everyone's attention. "Who's up for some strip poker?!"

"What'd you say Sisilia?" Matthew nudged my side giving me the googly eyes together with a wide goofy grin. "Up for a game?"

I shook my head and sipped the brown poison that were in my scotch glass. "Nah, I'm fine."

"Oh c'mon!" He whined. "You make the games more fun!"

I smirked and raised my pointy finger at him whilst still holding my glass. "That's because there's money involved."

"You can take my soul too- I don't care."

I laughed at how persistent, yet adorable, he was and rested down my glass.

"Trust me when I say, poker isn't my game," I patted his shoulder with each word. "I'll pass on this one."

He continued to whine before walking away to John. I, however, headed outside.

I took a seat on the first step of the porch and looked off into the dark distance.

I admired how quiet the neighbourhood was, despite it being night, and it then made me think about how my life would've been if I hadn't went into wrestling.

Probably still a loner who kept the chef job at the diner but definitely moved out from the parent's house.

If we're being real here.

But it would've been nice to settle down in a quiet neighbourhood just like this one, with a nice man by my side and a couple of rug-rats running around.

What a great life that would've been, but beggers can't be choosers and after all, this was the path I decided to walk but I honestly didn't know that my ship would've hit the iceberg so soon, or at all.

I sighed heavily and dropped my head onto my lap with my arms being a cushion.

"Hey..." An unfamiliar male voice spoke to which I perked my head to see.

Ah, that's why I didn't recognize the voice.

He hardly even talks.

"Hey Robert," I smiled as I fully raised my head. He returned the smile and sat closely next to me. He then offered me a beer to which I gladly took.

"Wanna explain why you're out here by yourself when all the action is inside?" He asked taking a swing at his beer.

"Just some fresh air..."

There was no way I was telling him or anyone my problems.

Julie got away because I was already high and thank heavens, she was nice enough to keep everything a secret, but aside from that, once my sober head is on, I'd like to just keep to myself.

These people were nice and didn't once try to jump my throat to know me personally.

They just let me in with ease and I'm thankful for that but I can't stay here, I can't just selfishly sit and think about using them just because I wish for a fresh start.

At some point, I'm going to have to leave but I'll only do so when the time is right, in a way that they won't even miss me.

"Sisilia..." Robert's voice pulled me out from my thoughts. I turned to look at him. "You okay?" He asked with concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I nodded and shrugged my shoulders before taking a huge gulp of my beer.

"Look, I know we're all strangers to you and it's our first time hanging out and I honestly don't expect you to butter up to us easily, but in our small group, everyone's family and if anyone of us has a problem, we all huddle up and try to hel-"

"Why are you telling me this?" I blatantly interrupted Robert. He looked at me for a moment before speaking.

His eyes...

His morherfuckin' eyes!

"Because I can see that there are things bothering you; things that are holding back your true smile. You're crying out for an escape inside but is afraid to physically say it. You're confused right now but is too stubborn to ask for help," His voice was smooth gentle whilst he turned his whole body to face me. He then placed his beer down onto the third step next to his feet. I stared at him intently as he now placed a cold hand on my knee. "That's why. And also for you to know that you have a genuine friend in me; in all of us here."

Deep.

I continued staring at him before turning my head away. "I liked you better when you were silent."

He laughed before removing his hand from my knee and going back to his previous position.

"I may be silent but I am observant."

"Cheers to that," I raised my beer bottle and tilted it to his direction. We clanked bottles before taking a swing.

I leaned back with both hands behind me and the beer between my knees. I let my head fall back as I enjoyed the feels of the cool November breeze.

Maybe I can stick around for a bit...

What's the worst that can happen?
