Sam and I walked side by side into the school, we pushed our way through the different groups of kids until we landed at my locker. "Is it A-day or B-day?" I asked. I honestly couldn't remember after everything that happened yesterday. Between Brian's offer and Brenton and my argument I was completely exhausted.
"B-day." Sam chirped. "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay, Sam. Seriously." She nodded her head and kissed my cheek before waking away. I opened my locker and grabbed my ap algebra 2 text book and notebook. I made my way to class even though there was still minutes before the bell rang.
"Miss Jackson," I turned and looked at the school principal. "Can I have a word with you?" I nodded my head and looked around, I saw tony who gave me a questionable look. I shrugged and followed principal Greene into the main office.
"Have you come up with an idea for your school project?" He asked sitting down at his desk.
"I know it's a painting, but that's all I've come up with so far." I said. "I still have a while before I need to get it approved."
"Yes, I know. But, we do have to have it approved, sooner rather than later." I nodded my head a took a deep breath. More stress. Yay.
"I'm sorry, principal Greene, I've just been busy recently." I said. Greene nodded and wrote something on a packet of papers.
"We have some more documents that we need you to go over. Just new guidelines and suggestions, also a survey about what the school would like to see." I thanked him and took the papers, then walked out of the office.
I walked up the stairs and then to my classroom. The teacher wasn't in class yet, so I chose my seat and began looking at the papers that Greene gave me.
"Leah," I didn't have to look at the person to know the voice, but I still looked at him. Brenton looked at me and smiled. "Hi."
"Sorry, I don't think I should talk to you. You know, being a spoiled white girl and all." I snapped.
"I didn't mean it like that. You know that."
I shrugged my shoulders and grabbed a pen from my book bag, I began filling out information from the packet. "Leah." I wrote my name on the top of the first paper then flipped it to the back, I signed where I had to.
"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to sit somewhere?" I asked getting annoyed by his company.
"Stop being an ass damnit. Be mature and fucking talk this out."
"I'm not being an ass."
"You are." He hissed and walked to me. He knelt down in front of me and cupped my chin in his hand. "You're being an ass and you know it. Straighten up princess."
"I am not. Im being Leah." I said softly. "You're being mean."
"I didn't mean to say that okay. I mean I meant to I just didn't mean for you to take it that way. I meant that you were not raised the way any of the waysiders were raised. You're my sweet little Leah. Not a waysider."
"I could be."
"Please, Leah." Brenton leaned forward and softly kissed my lips. "Please don't."
"Am i in danger?" I asked.
"What did brian say?" He asked removing his hand.
"He said that he came by to yell and scare me, instead he was asking me to join. He said something about me was distracting." Brenton's jaw clenched but he nodded his head.
"You're Okay." I nodded and leaned forward to kiss his lips again.
"You have class." I said softly. Brenton chuckled and stood up.
