Leah's pov

Brenton and I were quiet the whole car ride. Brian took us to wayside and got us a car and once inside brenton didn't look at me or say a word.

"Are you going to talk to me?" I asked, my voice was a lot softer than I intended for it to be. I wanted to hold my own, but that wasn't exactly working.

Brenton didn't say anything, he continued driving the way to my house. "Please talk to me." I said quietly. I looked at brenton but then looked away, his jaw was taut and he was paying extremely close attention to the road.

I looked out the window until we drove into my drive way. "Look at me." He said.

"No."

"Leah."

"You're going to make me cry." I could already feel my throat tighten and my nose burn, i was on the verge of tears.

"I just want to talk." He said. I clenched my jaw and looked at him. "That wasn't so hard, was it."

Before I could stop it, my bottom lip started to tremble and a sob left my lips. "Baby."

"No." I pulled away from his reaching hands and opened the car door. I got out and began walking towards the front door.

"Stop running away every time we have a problem." Brenton said walking behind me. I pushed the door and faced him.

"I'm not running, im walking." I snapped. I went to close the door but brenton was already there stopping me.

"Leah, just talk to me, damnit."

"Aye," I looked at my mom who was sitting on the couch. "Take that somewhere else, you're dad has a headache and I don't want to hear him start complaining."

"Sorry." Another tear slipped past my watered eyes and I jogged upstairs. I could hear brenton following me so I didn't even bother shutting the bedroom door.

"Leah," I turned to look at him. "You're being very unreasonable."

"No I'm not." My voice came broken and in a cry. "I'm being Leah."

Brenton chuckled before saying, "princess." He stepped closer to me and cupped my cheek in his hand. I leaned closer to his palm and closed my eyes. "I'm not mad."

"You are."

"No."

"Brenton," another sob left my lips and Brenton sighed. He came closer to me and hugged me tightly, letting my tears fall more freely.

"See I'm not mad."

"You're heart, it's pounding." I pointed out. I pulled away and wiped my eyes with the backs of my hands. I looked up at him, he gave me a small smile.

"Because I'm trying to understand why you're crying, baby." Brenton ran a hand through my hair, another thing I leaned into. I looked down and closed my eyes.

"I'm sorry I'm crying."

"Look at me princess." I did. "You're not going through this alone. Waysides a bitch, its a lot to deal with. If you truly want to join you won't be alone, no matter what."

"But you're going to be mad at me." I sniffled. "I don't want you mad at me Brenton."

"Then I won't be." He assured me. He removed his hand from my hair and smiled again. "Come on."

"Where?"

"Let's take a bath." I looked at my feet and nodded. "Head up princess."

"I don't wanna."
