Brenton's pov

Having Leah on the team was a hopeful idea. I was hopeful that she would be more trusting that I was okay, that wayside was okay with her. I thought of using the time in the locker room and on field as a way to grow closer, until she was actually in the locker room.

Leah walked in with coach while all of the guys were finishing getting dressed in their practice jerseys. She walked in wearing a pair of leggings and a T-shirt, but something as covered as that didn't stop anyone from starring. "Welcome to practice ladies." Coach yelled holding up his clipboard. "Today we're showing our new manager what a normal practice day looks like, so if you don't mind get your fucking asses on the field."

Coach glared at a couple of players that were goofing off, but they were trying to put each other in a headlock and didn't see. "William if I have to beat your ass, I will." I yelled grabbing him by the back of his jersey, he turned around and shoved me off of him.

Coach blew his whistle and walked out. I looked at leah and smiled at her, she walked to me. "Hi."

"Hey baby." I leaned down and kissed her lips softly, then I picked her up by the waist and placed her on a bench standing up. "This is Leah Jackson. She is our second manager, if anyone one of you fucking disrespect her or lay your eyes, hands, or other objects on her, I will throw you through a fucking wall."

"Brenton." I chuckled at her scold and looked at the players. Ever since my sophomore year students and teachers at wayside high knew about my actual participation in Wayside, it was still unknown how they found out, but I embraced it the second everyone found out. Tony on the other hand didn't so much. He looked at wayside as a family just like I did, but he was a happy go lucky type of person and was a nice guy, having people coward away from him wasn't his favorite feeling.

"Now let's get to the field." I said. The team started talking again, some rough housing and some just walking out of the locker room normally. I placed my hand palm up and waited for Leah to place her hand in mine, once she did I helped her from the bench.

"You don't have to be mean to them, you know."

"It seems that that's the only way to get people to listen." She shook her head and walked past me. "Leah wait."

"What?"

"Why're you upset?" I asked.

"I'm not."

"Okay, what's wrong then?" I pushed the subject, I knew Leah since childhood, I'm pretty sure I know when shes mad and when she's not.

"You don't have to be mean or threaten people just to get your way, Brenton." She said and turned away from me, she began walking to the locker room door. "This isn't Wayside."

"Leah." I began to grind my teeth and held my breath, then I followed after her. "Stop walking damnit."

"What?" Leah asked exasperated.

"Stop acting like this."

"Then you stop acting like that." I took another breath and looked down the hall when I heard the gym door open. Tony was leaning out of the door and tapping his wrist with his index finger, "hurry up" he was saying.

"I'm not acting any way, Leah." She rolled her eyes and turned to walk away, I grabbed her wrist softly and made her turn back towards me. "Talk to me damnit. Stop being immature."

"I'm being immature?" She hissed. "Last time I checked one of the most immature things that someone could do is to completely switch their personality when they're around other people. Grow up."
