I heard my alarm go off and I grabbed my phone, groaning and slowly opening my eyes. The screen was flashing and five little words popped up that made me jump out of bed exitedly. The guys are coming back!
I opened my closet, covering my mouth with my hand and furrowing my eyebrows, thinking about what to wear. It was still warm outside, so I settled for dark blue, skinny jeans, a white shirt that said 'on the road' with a naked shoulder and flats.
I agreed with Jenna, Julie and Samantha that we would all meet at the airport to go see the guys as soon as their plane landed. I washed my face and applied some makeup, trying to look my best. I looked at the clock, I didn't want to be late so I called a cab right away and grabbed my jacket. I didn't put it on because, as I said, it was quite warm ourside.
The ride lasted about twenty minutes, since the airport was on the other side of town.
"Are you coming?" I got a message from Jen. I quickly replied while getting out of the cab "I'm here, you?"
Some girl waving cought my attention. I looked more closely and it was Julie, giving me a sign to come over there. I hugged her tightly, then Jenna, who was already there, and Samantha.
"They're actually coming" Julie grinned nervously.
I nodded, twirling my ring around my finger, like I usually do when I'm nervous or in an awkward position.
We stood quietly, holding our exitement for ourselves, but it was clearly there.
I saw the plane in the distance. My heart was beating out of my chest. The plane slowly landed. I caught the girls exited and nervous expressions and chuckled to myself, we were quite a sight.
After about ten minutes, Calum got out of the plane first.
"Cal" I yelled out, noticing him, and ran to greet him with a tight hug. Michael was next to get out of the plane and I hugged him as well, then Ashton. Luke was last to come out. I ran into his arms, almost knocking him over, with tears in my eyes.
I haven't seen him in a whole month, which wasn't little and I missed him crazily. That was why I couldn't sleep at night, why I didn't have the will to get up in the morning and why the whole thing with Dean happened.
"I missed you so much" I said quietly, tearing up.
"I missed you too" he said, pulling back from the hug, but not letting go. He carefully put my hair behind my ear, looking at me significantly.
"Um guys" I heard Calum behind me and turned my head to look at him "Could you save it for later? We should go home" he grinned.
I awkwardly moved away from Luke and the guys left to go find their luggage.
"Are we going home now or what?" Jenna asked confusedly.
"We just saw them after a month, we should hang out a little, we haven't done that in a while" Julie stated.
"I agree" I nodded "But where could we meet up?"
"How about my house?" Michael asked, hearing what we said.
The guys gathered their luggage and we took two cabs to take us to Michaels house. They were all pretty tired from the plane ride, so we mostly just sat around, doing nothing. Ashton showed us all the pictures they took and told us a few stories from their trip. They even brought us back some souvenirs as gifts.
"Maybe we could go see our old friends from school tomorrow?" Luke suggested at one point. He turned to Calum to see his reaction.
Calum nodded "That sounds like a great idea! We can all go" he grinned.
"Yeah...sounds fun, I guess" I mumbled, desperately hoping Luke won't bump into Dean.
Unfortunetely, that's exactly what happened. As we were walking through the hallway in school the next day, I noticed Dean walking the other way. I made it clear to him that I wanted nothing to do with him anymore, but he didn't seem to pay any attention to that. As he passed the other way, Dean winked at me. I frowned, but Luke noticed.
"Who was that?" he asked jealously.
"No one" I muttered morosely.
"You didn't tell Luke?" Julie asked, crossing her arms and acting surprised. I didn't like where she was going.
"Julie" I said nervously "What are you doing?"
"Sorry Jess, this is for your own good" she said strictly "That was Dean"
"Stop! Don't say anything!" it was the first thing that came to mind. I was panicking "I'm begging, don't say anything"
I was afraid of what Julie could've said. Luke could think I cheated and never forgive me.
"Jessica had feelings for him while you were away" she stated as if it was nothing unusual and turned to him.
"That's not true" I yelled out, even though it was, just not in the way Luke would think.
"I believe you said you were 'attracted to him'" she said. Why was she doing this?
"What?" was all Luke could say, his expression said everything.
"It's not what you think" I said calmly "I can explain"
"So it is true!" he shook his head in disbelief and quickly walked away.
"Luke wait!" I shouted. I turned to Julie "Why did you do that? You know what really happened" I said through a dry throat.
"I'm sorry Jess" she said emotionless "But Luke is my best friend and you hurt him. You don't deserve him" she shook her head, staring at me and expecting my reaction.
I did nothing. I parted my lips to answer her, but I ended up saying nothing. I just stood there, watching her walk away as the words echoed in my head.
