They finally let us out of the hospital after we were throughly checked to see just how much smoke we inhailed. Luckily, no one took in the amount that could actually cause damage to the organism. After we were let go, we took two cabs to Julie and Ashton's house, it was the closest.

Ashton unlocked the front gate, stepping aside to let us in. Ebony, the little malamute was barking and wagging her tail with joy, but I wasn't in the mood to respond to her way of asking for attention.

He showed us to the living room and we all took a seat. I couldn't make myself comfortable, I felt awkward. I sat in an upright position at the edge of the couch, bitting my lower lip as my eyes slowly strolled across every single person in the room. Everyone felt uncomfortable. The highest amount of tension was between Julie and Michael, since it was their idea to split up.

"So" Calum cleared his throat, causing everyone to flinch "What a way to kick off a new apartment, huh?" he laughed nervously.

"Michael" Julie winced at her own words.

He looked at her, confused, with guilt still reflecting in his eyes. They were both aware of how stupid their fight was.

"I'm sorry" she said under her breath.

"No, I'm sorry Jules, I was stupid" Michael shook his head "You were right"

Julie pulled Michael in for a tight hug. She sniffed "The important thing is that we're okay and we'll never do anything that stupid ever again"

"I agree" he whispered.

After they pulled back, smiling at eachother, we all formed a group hug. A disaster is supposed to bring people together. Unfortunetely, this one almost teared us apart at the time. So much could've been different right now and, the more I think about it, the more grateful I am things turned out the way they did.

As for Calum and Sams apartment, luckily, the fire didn't get to it before the firefighters did and they could still move in. They just had to wait about a week for all the damages to be repaired, but they didn't mind the least bit, what matters is that they're moving in together. They're taking another step with their relationship and I couldn't be happier for them. I still laugh every time I remember how they met in biology class.

"Jess" Luke said, snapping out of his thoughts and looked at me. We were in the kitchen, making dinner together the only way we knew how-by following instructions we found online.

"Yeah?" I said a little confused, putting down some potatoes I was pealing and looking into his eyes. He has such beautiful blue eyes, and the way he looks at me always makes me feel so special.

"I was just thinking" he ran a hand through his hair and bit his lip nervously, he always looks so cute doing that "When the fire happened, you decided to leave with me, I was pretty sure you would stay"

I got where he was hinting at. He wanted to know if he was the reason for my deciding to take Michaels side.

"Luke" I crooned "You know I would follow you anywhere"

He smiled "Good"

"Good?" I furrowed my eyebrows confusedly.

"Good as in...That makes two of us" he said softly, a huge grin forming on his face when I smiled at his words.

He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close and placing my head on his chest "I love you so much"

"I love you too" I whispered, closing my eyes and placing my arms on his shoulders.

We stood like this for a minute, until he tilted my head up to look at him. Our eyes met and he tilted his head down to kiss me. I kissed him back with the same passion and he picked me up, placing me on the counter.

"Wait" I stopped him, trying to catch my breath "We still have to make dinner"

Luke shrugged "I'm not hungry anymore"

I pursed my lips and raised an eyebrow "Who are you?"

He chuckled and I smirked. His arms were around me again and I wrapped my legs around his. He started kissing me again.

My phone buzzed.

"Every time!" Luke groaned causing me to laugh "Ironic, isn't it?" I smirked.

I picked up my phone "Julie. She says she forgot to ask me how my interview went"

Luke exhailed annoyedly causing me to laugh again. I quickly texted Julie back, saying how it went great and that I'll let her know whether or not I got accepted. I tosed my phone to the side looked at Luke. He was still annoyed and I still found it funny.

"What's wrong? Why are you so tense?" I asked, crossing my legs and placing my hands on the edge of the counter.

He shook his head "It's nothing"

"Come on, tell me" I crooned, taking his hands.

"I'm just still not over what happened with the fire" he croaked "I keep thinking how I could never handle losing you"

I felt like my chest tightened. I couldn't handle being without him either. I loved him with every ounce of my being. I needed him.

He wrapped his arms around my torso, hugging me tightly. I burried my head in his chest, feeling his warm breath down my neck.
