*Calum's point of view*
Nervously tapping my fingers against the wooden table I was seated at, I realised I haven't heard a single word our manager had said. My mind was on Sam. I couldn't keep my focus for longer than two seconds, as my thoughts kept flying back to her. God, I hope she's okay. I never should've left her alone, I could've asked to reschedule the meeting and stayed with her.
"Alright then." the manager's words startled me out of my trance like state and I snapped my head up to look at him. He was standing by a white board with a lot of words scribbled over it in different colored markers. I brought my eyebrows closer together, forming a slight frown.
"As we all know." he continued, putting his hands together in a loud clap "You boys are getting bigger and bigger by the minute! You're blowing up the charts and the record company has huge plans for you!"
For a brief second, I turned my head to look at the guys. They were like statues, sitting still and staring as they took in every word "So here's what we've come up with. As you know, you guys need to somehow draw attention to yourselves. You need to create an image for the band."
"An image?" Ashton echoed, in a not-too-convinced manner.
"An image." the manager confirmed "As in you need to have your own 'thing', if you will. The label has talked it over and we've set out a few ideas to show you." he picked up a scetchpad, about the size of a coffee table, holding it up so we could see it's content.
"Michael." he started, looking at the tall, red haired boy sitting to my left "You'll be the group's 'bad boy'. You'll have a hardcore image and every girl will swoon over you. You're going to swhitch up a few girlfriends to proove your character, got it?"
The manager flipped a few papers on the scetchpad, revealing a drawing of Michael, tattoos covering him and girls around his arms. All eyes flew to Michael, who raised an eyebrow, obviously not loving the idea.
"Luke!" the manager shrugged off Michael's disapprovement, flipping through a couple of pages "You're gonna be the guy who doesn't care about anything. Too cool to care. Your job is to stand around and show no interest in anything what so ever."
I snapped my head to my right, watching Luke as he nodded slowly, confusion clear in his expression.
"Calum." I jumped at my name being called "You'll be the immature one in the band. Your job is just to act like a kid, make fun of everything and take nothing seriously!"
"But-" I didn't even get to protest, as the manager quickly moved on to Ashton "Lastly, you'll be the good guy. The nice and sensitive one. Fans will love you most because you'll give out the most autographs and pictures and you'll be the only one who actually cares! What do you boys think?" he finished with his arms wide open, a smug grin plastered on his face.
My jaw dropped. He can't be serious, this was the stupidest idea I've ever heard and there's no way I would agree to it. Looking over to the others I knew they felt the same way, as their expressions all mirored shock.
"You're kidding, right?" I asked ironically "But that's-" I didn't get to finish my sentance, as I was cut off by my cell phone ringing. Ignoring the manager's annoyed look, I walked over to the far corner of the room, placing the phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Cal?" I neard Jess, panic clear in her voice "You need to get here right now!"
"Jess? Calm down, what happened?" I asked, starting to worry myself.
"It's Samantha, we were able to get her to a hospital and she's not well. You need to get here!"
I felt a huge pressure building up, making me light headed. I should've known, I should've known it wouldn't end well and I was too stupid to realise it on time. Pulling myself together, I was able to muble out "What hospital are you in?"
