*Myka's POV*
I woke up later an hour later in my room lying down on my bed. I sat up and saw Gale sitting in the white bean chair in my room opposite my bed. He had his head back and I could hear him snoring lightly. He’d always snored. I remember the first time I slept over at his house in 4th grade. We shared the same bed and I woke up scared in the middle of the night before realising that the noise that had scared me was Gale’s light snoring. I had smiled then laid back down just staring at him sleeping peacefully and snoring for ages until I fell back to sleep myself about an hour later. I smiled now watching Gale again. I could almost imagine nothing had changed between us. Almost. But then Gale woke up and smiled when he saw I was awake. I quickly curled up in the corner on my bed against the wall. His eyes were still that freaky bright gold and he still had that gold colour following him everywhere. His smile instantly faded when he saw that I was still terrified of him.
“Myka…” He breathed.
“Gale.” I whimpered after a minute of silence just staring at each other. “I’m scared. What’s happening to me? Why are you all gold?” I began to cry.
“It’s quite a long story.” He sighed looking away.
“Where’s Kaycee? And what about all of them? What are they all?” I asked him.
“You should rest. We should talk about this in the morning.” He replied. I just shook my head. He sighed.
“After you fainted, all hell broke loose. I caught you before you hit the floor then carried you up here and locked the door. Jenny and Ruby lunged at Kaycee and Kaycee fled. The party ended and everyone left. Clueless mundanes just thought there was a fight going on, nothing supernatural or otherworldly happening. Blind as bats mundanes are.” He replied.
“Mundanes?” I asked not really following what he was saying.
“Sorry, keep forgetting you have no idea what I’m talking about. Trust me I didn’t either until last week. Mundanes are what we call humans.” He answered.
“We? Who’s ‘we’?” I asked.
“People from the Otherworld or supernatural creatures. People only believed to be myth. People like vampires, werewolves, warlocks, angels, faeries, demons, devils, etcetera. People… like me.” He answered.
“Supernatural?” I screamed. “You’re not supernatural though! Gale you’ve been my best friend since 4th grade. Nobody is Otherworldly. V-Vampires and that don’t exist! You’re human! Like me! I’ve known you since 4th grade! I think I’d know if you were a ‘s-s-supernatural creature’.” I stuttered unbelievingly.
“I used to be mundane like you. Although I’m not sure if you even really are a mundane anymore. My family have a curse on them. ‘Omnis natus Fisher bloodline semel conversus in XVIII et verum hominem occidere, casu an de industria, et convertam eos ad loup garou’ All men born of the Fisher bloodline, once they turn 18 and into a real man, one kill, whether on purpose or accident, will turn them into the loup garou.” He recited.
“What? Kill!?” I shrieked.
“I am not going into that now. No one knows about the curse except you. I’ll tell you everything later but right now you need to know the truth before you get any more freaked out.” He replied. He stood up and began to walk over to the bed. I curled up tighter against the wall.
“I’m not going to hurt you Myka. I could never do that.” He said calmly.
“For some reason I find that hard to believe.” I replied in a monotone and held up my wrists for him to see. I stared. The bruises were gone. My mouth hung open in shock. Finally I looked up at Gale but couldn’t find any words to say.
