*Myka's POV*

“Come to me. Come home. Where you belong.” His icy voice whispered.

“No.” I thought it but the word echoed around me.

“We will find you one way or another. You can’t hide forever.” He spoke. Although I couldn’t even see him. I was just surrounded by darkness. His voice echoed like mine. I didn’t even have to see who it was to know. The same person who has been in every other dream or vision since my 18th.

“No.” My thoughts echoed around me  again.

“Yesss.” He argued in a hiss.

“No.” I thought again, more determindly. I couldn’t speak. Couldn’t open my mouth or move, only think.

“Leave.” I commanded with more confidence. “Leave my dreams alone.”

“No...” His voice sounded weaker and further away. It seemed to be working.

“Leave. Now.” I commanded.

“You’re getting stronger.” He sounded impressed. Almost as if he was praising me.

“I’m learning.” I replied. “Now, go. GO!” There was a loud whirling sound filling my ears. Kind of like the wind in a thunderstorm. Although this was more like a hurricane.

“Soon young one. We’ll meet  again soon.” I heard his voice over the cacophany of sound.

“Soon.” I agreed before the wind faded and I was left back in a deep and finally dreamless sleep.

“Ah, it’s a walking zombie!” Tyler joked as he joined the rest of us walking out to the car. I just glared at him and rubbed at my eyes again.

“Seriously I like school and all that, but this is just too much. It’s freaking 7:30 in the morning!” I complained.

“I’m guessing you’re not a morning person Chicka?” Marcus asked.

“She’s definately not a morning person.” Gale answered for me. I glared at him.

“I can see.” Tresean laughed walking past us.

“Myka, here’s the hairtie you wanted.” Ruby said running up to me.

“Thanks.” I replied taking the band off her and quickly tying my hair up in a high and tight ponytail.

“I prefer it down.” Tyler pouted.

“My hair is a mess down.” I replied tucking a few stray strands behind my ears.

“There’s an amazing thing called conditioner. You should try it.” Silvia sneered and Jenny snickered as they walked past us and into the giant black SUV, arms linked. I rolled my eyes at them.

“Why are we up so early anyway?” I groaned.

“We live over an hour away from town Myka.” Zack answered me.

“So why not just move?” I asked.

“We have to keep safe. The further the better.” He explained.

“Couldn’t you have just, I don’t know. Let me sleep in? Then go to school using all your superspeed?” I asked.

“No. Then people would find it weird if we arrived to school without a car and everything ruffled from the wind as we ran. Now everyone get in the car so we can leave.” Zack answered as he jumped in the driver’s seat and started the car. I sighed and scrambled into the back of the car with everyone else. Jenny and Silvia had already claimed the front seat next to Zack. Silvia was in the passenger seat and Jenny was sitting between her and Zack on the side of both chairs. The back was just lots of seats built in a square pattern going around. I ended up at the very back between Gale and Tresean. Obviously Silvia and Jenny kept shooting me glares from the front seat. I stared down at my outfit. All Ruby let me wear was a pair of dark blue denim shorts that were ripped and a dark green tank top. I couldn’t say I hated the outfit, but it wasn’t something I’d usually choose. Although Ruby now had some idea about being my new personal stylist and won’t let me choose my own clothes. She took my list away I was making for Gale and gave him hers saying that she now chose all my clothes. I was too tired this morning to argue so I just let her do what she wanted. I mean Ruby does have a good sense of style. I did however find a pair of bright red converse chucks thrown in the back of her wardrobe and refused to wear any other shoes than that. Ruby complained about the colour not matching the outfit so we settled for a compromise. We took the shoes to Marcus and he changed the colour to match the dark green of my top. I had to admit the outfit was good. And comfortable too. I used to always wear clothes like this, well that was until Cole. Immediately I put the thought of him away.

“No dreams last night huh?” Gale asked.

“How did you know?” I asked him.

“You squrim and scream lately when you’ve been dreaming, remember? Evil Devils invading your dreams with visions?” He answered.

“Oh yeah, right.” I answered dumbly.

“So there weren’t any dreams right?” He asked again.

“I started having one. But, it wasn’t a vision like the others. This was kind of an actual dream. He was there, and I was talking to him. It’s hard to explain but, it was like I pushed him out.” I said.

“How?” Gale asked.

“I just told him to get out. Although I couldn’t actually speak, what I thought just kind of echoed around us. And it was pitch black so I couldn’t see anything. I could only hear and think. I just told him to leave my dreams alone, and he went. I actually fought him off, and it felt good. But I don’t know why I had a dream where I had an actual conversation with him, and not a vision like the other nights.” I explained.

“Dream walking.” Tresean murmured from next to me.

“Huh?” I asked.

“Each Devil has their own power. Dimitri must be able to dream walk. He can enter whoever’s dreams he wants and interact with their souls while their bodies sleep. But you pushed him out. I didn’t even know that was possible.” He explained.

“Neither did I.” I answered processing all this new information.

We finally arrived at school at 8:40, classes start at 9. I stretched as I finally got out of the car and breathed in the fresh morning air. I was awake now and ready to learn. At first I tried to keep track of where we were going so I had some idea of where the house was located, but I gave up after just a couple of turns. I slept on Gale’s shoulder most of the way instead. Ruby passed me my bag and looped her arm through mine before dragging me off towards the school. People walked past us, whispering and casting glances our way. Oh shit, I forgot about that. I tried to change direction and start walking back to the car but Ruby and Gale stopped me.

“What the hell Myka? I thought you liked school.” Ruby said leading me back through the school. There were even more people inside and they all looked over.

“People are staring. Myka doesn’t like the attention.” Gale explained. I looked over at him.

“It’s weird for me to be seen with all of you. You’re the cool group, I’m the geek.” I told him.

“You’re not a geek and they will all learn to get used to it. We’re not leaving you alone.” He replied sternly. I knew there was no point in even trying to argue with him when he used that tone.

“Okay, fine.” I said and we started walking again.

“Hey baby, I hope I’m not disrupting anything.” A sleazy voice asked. I instantly tensed up. Gale bristled next to me letting out a low growl underneath his breath. I kept looking at Gale’s eyes though. As he turned around to face where the voice came from, I saw the anger pass like fire through his eyes and he isntinctively moved closer and a little in front of me. I took a deep breath and slowly turned around to face the speaker. I already knew who it was as soon as he spoke, but it still didn’t help prepare me.

“Cole...”
