*Myka's POV*
Burning. Pain. Agony. Disaster. Fire. Screaming. Torture. Everywhere. I can’t get away. I can’t escape it. I can’t-
“Ouch!” I exclaimed sitting right up and putting a hand to my forehead.
“Oh stop your whining. I’ve been through a lot worse.” Jenny said from in front of me and dabbed something on my forehead again.
“Ouch! No, stay away!” I shouted pushing her hands away and jumping off the bed someone had put me in. I was still in the same tattered and ripped dress that now had a giant rip right up the side and bits of material just hanging down my body. Gale had run so fast that all the breath was taken away from me and I passed out from lack of oxygen.
“Don’t come near me.” I said standing in the corner furthest away from Jenny.
“Well then how the hell am I meant to help you?” She argued throwing her hands up in the air.
“Where’s Gale? I only want to speak to Gale.” I said switching corners as she tried to grab me.
“You’re pretty fast.” She commented.
“State champion runner since 6th grade.” I replied. “Now where’s Gale?” Jenny let out a big and overly dramatic sigh. She stormed out of the door and left it wide open. I heard lots of talking silence right away.
“She’ll only talk to you. Won’t even let me clean her freaking bloody head. Stupid bitch.” I heard Jenny grumble to someone.
“You know that’s quite ironic. Seeing as you’re literally a female dog. Now if you will get out of my way, I need to go see Myka.” I heard Gale’s deep voice reply. As soon as Gale entered the room I jumped on him before he could even close the door. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I buried my head in his chest while he closed the door.
“Myka…” Gale breathed hugging me back. After a few minutes I lifted my head off his chest.
“Where are we?” I asked him as I finally took in my surroundings. I was in a huge white room that had lots of rugs, couches, chairs, a computer, a desk, a widescreen TV and double bed in the centre of the room. Each piece of furniture was a different fluoro colour giving the room a really cool effect. There was also one whole wall replaced by glass as a giant window that looked out upon the city in the distance.
“This is where I live now. We all live here. It’s like a safe house. And this Myka, is your new room.”
“Huh? But what about my house! What about my parents?” I exclaimed.
“Kaycee and her little devil spawns destroyed your house, Myka. And your parents are mundanes; they’ll just think it was a fire or something. And I’ve already sorted it out that your parents just think your living with me now which you are. Just with a few extra people.” He explained.
“And they’re okay with that?” I asked saddened that they wouldn’t put more thought into my safety.
“Don’t be down Myka. They’re mundanes. They’ll believe anything just to avoid the supernatural world.” Gale said. I stepped out of the embrace and sat back down on the bed. Gale followed and sat where Jenny was before. He grabbed some gauze and tipped some liquid on it.
“Let me clean you up.” He said and gestured for me to move closer. Reluctantly I did as told. As soon as the gauze touched the cut on my forehead I squealed and pulled away.
“Myka...” Gale breathed. “I have to do this. I’m sorry if it hurts.” Slowly I turned back to look at him.
“How the hell did I even get this cut?” I asked then bit my lip to stop myself from flinching from the sting.
