*Myka's POV*

Screaming. Lots and lots of screaming. My throat hurts because of all the screaming. The pain. The torture. Why doesn’t he just kill me? Another lash. I felt the skin across my thigh open and bleed. He started laughing as a single tear slid down my cheek. A manic and evil laugh.

“Stop! Please!” I screamed. His laughter just increased.

“Not one of your lover boys will save you.” He said.

“They will! They will find me! They’ll save me! They’ll kill you!” I screamed at him and pulled against the chains holding me up. Another loud crack as the whip lashed across my bare stomach. I screamed and tears poured out of my eyes.

“Stop! Please just stop!” I kept screaming. Shaking. Shaking from the pain. Shaking form the torture. Shaking- My eyes flew open. Gale was hovering above me, hands on my shoulders, shaking me.

“Myka! Myka wake up!” He shouted. I let out a whimper and flung myself into his arms causing him to fall backwards on the bed. I clung tight to his warm body and buried my head in his chest. He held me tight as well as my body shook and I cried.

“Shh. It’s just a dream. A bad dream.” He soothed. I shook my head not able to talk yet. Suddenly the door burst open and bright light streamed in from outside in the hall. I hid my head even more in Gale’s chest.

“What happened? We heard screaming!” Tresean yelled as everyone else ran in behind him.

“It’s fine. Myka just had a bad dream.” Gale replied stoking my hair.

“This is different. It wasn’t just a bad dream. I know it, somehow I know.” I got out between sobs.

“What do you mean Chicka?” Marcus asked from next to Tresean and Tyler.

“It-… somehow I just know that it wasn’t only a dream. It’s going to happen, unless we stop it.” I said not even knowing how I knew.

“What’s going to happen?” Marcus asked coming closer to me and grabbing my hand in his.

“It’s not very clear but… I’m chained to a wall. There’s this man, and he’s whipping me. I keep thinking, ‘why doesn’t he just kill me?’ It’s bad. He’s torturing me and… it’s horrible. His laugh…” I started to choke up. “I don’t ever want it to happen.” I finished as tears streaked down my face.

“Gale, what did Myka’s eyes look like when she was dreaming?” Everest spoke up.

“Uh… oh yeah. At first they were shining like with her True Sight, except instead of just her iris being rainbow, it was her whole eyes.” He answered. Everest nodded.

“Then it is as I thought. Another of Myka’s gifts is she has visions. She can foretell the future. However she doesn’t get to choose when it happens or what she sees.” She spoke. I looked wide eyed at her.

“The Fey don’t lie, Myka.” Gale said.

“I know.” I replied. “But is there a way we can change the future?” I asked fearfully. I did not want to go through that torture for real. Dreams were bad enough.

“If we’re careful, then yes we can change the future. Now that we know what to expect, that you’ll be alone and tortured by someone, we can start to make sure that doesn’t happen. From now on I want you to have one of us with you at all times. Preferably two but one will do. I’ll start a roster.” Everest replied.

“No really, you guys don’t need to waste your time on me. I’ll be fine.” I said.

“Fine, I’ll change it to only those who want to volunteer to keep you safe. Then I’ll work out a roster from those people. So who’s in?” She asked. Immediately Gale’s, Marcus, Tresean and Tyler’s hands shot up into the air followed by Ruby.
