|TIME IS AN ILLUSION|

You laid in the long, green and brown grasses of the field, a stalk of wheat hanging from your mouth. The air was warm, and a slight breeze kept you from getting too hot. It was nice.

Your peace however, was disturbed when a loud humming sound reached your ears.  It was a sound you hadn't heard before. The machines at the shop made similar noises, but none of them were so. . . prominent.

Sitting up, you looked around for the source of the noise, only to find a small, red, weird looking machine sitting almost twenty feet behind you.

"What the-"

You slowly walked towards it.

The machine had two wings like a plane, but instead of having the propellers on the front, each wing had a fan whirring in the middle of it. The body of the craft was not anything like a plane, but looked more like a car. It had a seat, steering wheel, several buttons along the dash and a place to hold supplies.

"Wow-" you reached out to touch the craft.

"What are you doing?"

Your heart almost leaped out of your chest and you whipped around to see who'd spoken.

"I'm sorry. Is this yours?"

The boy standing behind you looked and dressed just as strange -if not stranger- than the craft looked. His hair wasn't weird, it was shorter in the front but the back hung down across his shoulders. Lots of people had similar cuts to that. However, his clothes were awful. Tight, black pants hugged his legs, showing off the curves of his muscles that resembled a woman's. His shirt was also black, and his jacket was cut so the hem sat just above his hips. Definitely something you didn't see often, and it made you happy to only be wearing a white undershirt and your work pants.

"Yeah. It's mine. What year it is?"

Weird question.

"1969."

A grin spread across the boys face. "Actually? You're not just saying that?"

"Uh- are you okay? You sick or something?"

The boy shook his head. "Nope. I'm just beyond happy. Sure, I was aiming a little further and hoping to get back to the 1800's, but the 60's works too."

"What in the hell are you talking about?"

The boy turned to you and grabbed both your shoulders. "I'm going to tell you a secret, but you can't tell anyone or they'll think you're crazy and put you in an institute."

All you did was gulp and wait for him to continue.

"I'm not from here. I'm from more than a few years in the future. That thing behind you? My friends made it in a science lab and they let me test it. Next thing I know, I'm here."

You pulled the boys hands off your shoulders. "I think you need to be put in an institute."

Sighing the boy sat in the grass. "My names Keith Kogane, have you met anyone around here with a last name like Kogane?"

You shook your head. It was a sort of unusual name.

"That's because it's Japanese. America and Japan still aren't getting along that well at this point, right?"

"Your last name doesn't prove anything. You could be one of the weird hybrid kids that came out of World War ll, or maybe you're just lying."

Keith rubbed his temples and looked like he was trying to think of anything to prove himself. "Has man walked on the moon yet?"
