~Smut Level: 4~
|HANAHAKI #2|

You sat on a bench near the edge of the training deck and watched as the paladins fought as a team against Altean robots. Lotor sat with you, but put as much distance between the two of you as possible.

"Hey, how're things going with Allura?" You asked, trying to fill the silence.

"Fine."

Lotor turned his body away and you took the hint. He obviously wasn't in the mood to talk.

The team exercise ended and only Shiro and Lance were still standing.

The now red paladin ran over to you, a goofy grin plastered on his face. "How was that? Pretty impressive, huh?"

Laughing, you stood in front of Lance and ruffled his hair. "I've seen better."

Shooting you a playful glare, Lance launched forward and wrapped an arm around your waist and held you tight while he tickled your sides.

"Lance! Quit it!"

The paladin didn't listen and continued to attack you. He only stopped when a loud bang echoed off the walls, silencing the whole team.

Lotor had stood from the bench so fast that it toppled over and crashed to the floor, and without uttering a word the Galran prince left the training deck.

You looked at Allura. "Who whizzed in his space goo?"

"I don't know." She sighed. "He's been acting like that a lot lately and won't tell me why."

Allura hung her head and Lance reached out to lay his hand on her shoulder.

Something in your chest pinched and you felt your heart race in fear. Was it happening again?

"Well, I don't know about it you guys but I'm gonna get me some space goo." You said, laughing awkwardly.

Lance didn't acknowledge you, but instead kept his attention trained on the princess and once again you felt a pain in your chest.

Rushing away from the training deck, you made a bee-line for your room. Once inside you stripped away your workout clothes and walked towards your bathroom, but something caught your eye in the mirror.

The long, pink scar going from the top of your sternum down to your bellybutton was a constant reminder of the pain you'd gone through. The feeling of suffocating, choking, the pain of roots twisting themselves through your body, all of it. Yes, the surgery took away all that pain, but fear took its place. The fear of loving.

There is always that slight chance that the person you love won't love you back, and after learning how truly painful unrequited love felt, you were scared to open yourself up again.

A knock took you out of your trance.

"Hold on." You threw on the first shirt you found. "Okay, come in."

Your bedroom door slid open and the last person you were expecting walked inside.

Lotor had his head hung and shoulders hunched so that you couldn't see his face and he stood stiffly by the door.

"Lotor? What's up?"

The Galra prince sighed before looking you in the eyes.

He looked tired, dark circles hanging under his eyes and skin slightly paler. He also had something red crusted to the corner of his mouth. Something that looked a lot like-

"Were you bleeding?" You asked.

Lotor nodded. "Yes, that's what I came to speak to you about."
