The first thing she said to me was, "I want to cancel our engagement".

I was surprised to say the least. I would have never thought that she wouldn't even bother to greet me first.

I mean, it's okay if she wants to break any relationship with me but can't she at least say something to first acknowledge my existence. For example, Hello, Good morning or maybe just Hi.

I am the future Duke, she should show me the respect I deserve.
Though, I am not someone who likes to make my high status known to everyone, I am definitely not someone who takes it lying down.

I looked at her coldly and said "Alright."

She stood up at once and raised her voice at me "I am not going to take a no for an answer you hear, you bastard! I will-"

I cut her off "I said yes. I said yes to the cancellation of our engagement. I think you should get your ears properly cleaned milady for it might cause you trouble in the future if you keep mishearing things".

Her mouth was still open as she was going to continue her ranting but I didn't want to listen to it any longer. She didn't look like a pretty girl now but someone completely nasty. I couldn't stand her presence so I decided to shoo her off.

"We don't have anything left to discuss. Please leave now." I said stressing on the my impatience with her.

A thirteen year old kid actually dares to talk to me like that... I am, no, I was over a decade older than her.

She bit her lip then gritting her teeth she said "Of course, who would like to stay here for long with you."

Then, she placed both her hands on the sides of her hips and said in an excessively arrogant manner "I am getting engaged to Callum Farnham, be sure to show up on the occasion, even though I would like it if you don't, because believe me, I would not like to see a weakling such as you on a nice occasion reminding me of our horrible past."

I frowned and said "Our horrible past you say, I have never had a relationship with you other than the namesake engagement. Please don't make it sound ambiguous for I shall not acknowledge any, I repeat any relationship with someone like you."

She was practically fuming now but did I care?
Definitely not!

She stomped out of the room and I took a sip of coffee that had been kept there on the table since the beginning.  I took the cup of tea that was laid out for her and gave it to the maid who was standing at the edge of the room to cater to our needs.
