"Please dear Lord. Let her live." Christopher prayed as he tried to resuscitate the little girl. He could not take it if she did not wake up and at least say a word.
"C'mon" he almost screamed.
There were coughs and spluttering of water. He felt relieved as the little girl opened her  eyes wide  and stared at the stranger's calm face.
"Thank God. You are breathing.? " it was more of a question than a statement.
He studied her as she did. She was almost six to seven years of age, with short kinky hair. Chocolate in complexion and injured.
He touched her cold hands but the girl closed her eyes in what seemed like she was flinching and she glared at him.
She shook her head violently
"I am not going to hurt okay? I Just want to know your name. " Christopher inquired gently.
She did nothing but stare at him and tried to scoot away from him but she found that she had no strength.
Christopher felt disturbed by her behavior and thought of how to best hel
He stood and tried to move her to more comfortable position.
The little girl just got more violent and she started crying. Christopher got frustrated and rubbed his face. He could only say that the girl had gone through something terrible. He could feel it. It vibrated through her actions.
"I am a doctor okay.? Trust me  I won't hurt you. I only want to help you. "Christopher offered.
The girl  shook her head and could not make major movements.
She felt pain all over her fragile body after her vigorous actions .He stood there and watched her as she lost consciousness again.
"What happened to you princess? " he asked no one in particular.
He inspected her. There were injuries upon her thighs and arms.
He panicked out of the thought of what mighty have conspired.
He slowly pulled the woolen blanket to cover her body.
He knew the next twenty four hours were crucial. He feared but decided to leave her for he had matters to attend to.
He needed to go buy some of the things she would need when she got up.
He needed someone to help with the girl when he was not around.
His phone buzzed.
"Hello uncle?" He answered his phone.
"Hello, I hope you arrived well. The family was worried when you did not call." His voiced rang through the empty hallway.
"I am sorry about that. I got here safe but something came up and I totally forgot." He apologized.
"What happened?" He questioned.
"I found a drowned little girl and now I am helping her though I don't know her origin." He confessed.
"That's good but you will have to alert the authorities about her when she gets up." He ordered.
"Yes, that's my plan." He sighed.
"Good." He commented.
"Do you have anyone who can help you with her?" He prodded.
"No, not yet. I think of getting one from some agency." He replied.
"Don't worry I have a family friend of mine that had a house help who they had to let go because they were moving to Rwanda. I will ask if she can come help you with the girl." He offered.
CJ felt relieved.
"That would be great. I appreciate uncle." He thanked him.
"You welcome son. Anything you need just call and let me know." He offered.
"I will. Thank you for everything." He said.
"Your father was my brother and so you are my son too." He dismissed him.
CJ murmured something intelligible in reply.
"Take care son." He told him.
"Yes, I will. Great everyone for me." He reminded him.
"I will." He hanged up.
His uncle was the remaining blood relation that he was close to.
He had no siblings and his mother was an orphan and therefore he had only his father's side of relation.
When he lost his mother, he was just a boy and his father never remarried for told him that his mother was the only woman for him.
He was glad that his father was around until he became a full grown man.
He checked his watch it was almost six o'clock in the morning.
He was tired and wanted to sleep then wake up and check on the girl and maybe later to the supermarket and get the supplies.
