Slowly, as the storm troopers filed out of the TIE's and other ships. I also slowly backed into the crowd. Finding a hiding place in a ditch nearby. I watched as Kylo stepped out, darkness and a false confidence radiated off of him. I could hear blasters in the distance and a faint short circuiting of wires. I could only pray it wasn't my cruiser.

I knew Kylo was speaking, and I knew the part I had to do. Fake being a person brave enough to take on a dark knight, and take a paralyzing blast to the shoulder to discourage anyone from trying to be a hero. Patiently I waited, and then I felt the pulse. Standing up I revealed myself, removing my hood. And unleashing my staff to its full length, I gripped it in the middle where the handle was.

"Kylo Ren, you will not harm these people. Not a single one if I have any say in it." I stood powerfully, villagers looking on at me. As well as the clones. The mysterious girl that had earlier been strolling around their village Captain Phasma aimed at me, and I hoped she didn't hate me enough from all my shit talking to actually harm me. Let alone actually shoot me. I sucked in a breath ready for what was to happen next.

I was shot, I gasped. Clutching my shoulder, not feeling paralyzed from the shot. But the burn from the blast felt like it was scream in my head. Choking on my breath, I fell backwards into the ditch. Instead of my body hitting the cold nights sand. I fell onto a body. Groaning at the pain I was in, I reminded myself to have a word with that tin can later about what a paralyzing shot is.

"Are you okay, Ava? What were you thinking?" That damned Poe Dameron. Why didn't he leave when he had the chance? He may have a claim to fame as an amazing pilot, but he's an idiot.

Grunting, "yeah, I've dealt with worse. I just need to get to my ship." I tried sitting up. But my shoulder was too pained to even imagine that. Add another bloody scar to the list by my own side. I laid back again.

"Look, stay put. I'll deal with this. And then I'll come back and tend to your wound." The pilot rushed out, as he pulled his own blaster. I laughed weakly.

"You're going to die, kid." I said looking up at him as he peered over the edge of the ditch. Planning his moves as carefully as he could.

He looked down at me, "for the record I'm definitely older than you, kid." And with that he was gone.

My breathing was hard. I could hear yelling, but couldn't make out the words. From distance of it, or blood loss I couldn't tell. And then there were blasters, and lots of them. And that's the last thing I remember as I passed out.

Heat.

That's all I could feel.

Heat.

Slowly, I opened my eyes to a bright sun. Sweat covered my body. I tried sitting up again, and let out a painful scream in doing so. I know one of the villagers had to have heard me. They'll come and see, then I can get medical attention. Minutes passed as I sat there. But no one came. I sighed, taking a deep breathe. And began the long road to standing up.

Come on Odessa. Get up, Odessa.

I mentally powered myself through it. Finally on my feet, my next challenge. Get out of this ditch. It took several minutes. But I was finally out, throwing my head backwards towards the sky. I smiled.

"Whoo!" I yelled, throwing my non injured arm in the air. Bringing my attention back to the village. And that's when it hit me. That's why Kylo Ren told me only to finish my mission with an act. To fall somewhere the people wouldn't see me, then to get to my ship and leave.

They were all dead. Men, women, children. Anger boiled inside of me, this is why we're different. This is why I'm friends with one person on that ship. Because despite all the names I've taken. They weren't innocent. They weren't bystanders. This was a massacre. Slowly I walked carefully among the bodies. Making sure not to disturb them.

Walking, I found an empty space where my ship had once been. My anger only deepened. I was stuck on this planet. A nudge was at my feet. Looking down, there was a BB-8 unit looking back at me. It was Poe's. No way would a Resistance droid allow me to send a distress signal to the First Order. And no way was I trying to go back with how Phasma purposefully shot me. And Kylo Ren lied to me. Not right now at least. I needed to calm down, or I'd react like Kylo when he doesn't get what he wants.

"Hey little guy. Do you know what happened to my ship?" I questioned, the droid beeped quickly. Telling me scavengers stole it. Groaning up to the sky, there's no way in hell I'll be able to get it back unless luck favored me to even find their camp.

Looking back to the droid, "And where's your master? Poe, was it?" But the droids head fell sadly.

Poe had been captured. I wasn't too surprised due to his actions of trying to single handedly take on Kylo Ren and a small battalion of stormtroopers. How would you expect to win. It was suicide. Speaking of death, I needed food and water if I was going to try and find another town so I could try and make it back to base.

Taking a quick glance at the houses, I settled on one that sat in the middle of town. I could hear BB-8 rolling on the sand behind me, following me into the home. He beeped and whirred at me. Sighing, I looked down at him. Smiling sadly.

"I know it's wrong to steal they're food. But, I need to get home. And they no longer have any need for it." I explained, finding my way over to the small kitchen. I did my best to ignore the homes decor. Knowing that there was most likely photos of the family in here. Eating whatever I found, and finding a canteen for this trip. I prepared myself for how long this could take.

Walking along the sand, BB-8 continued to follow me. I wouldn't say I was annoyed. He did just loose his master. I stopped walking to look at him.

"Where do you think you're going?" Placing my hands on my hip as a stern mother would do. His head looked side to side, then back up to me. Beeping at me how he would go with me to civilization, and how we could help each other get home. With him saying this, a thought came to my head.

He could take me to the Resistance base. He could lead me to the end of the war.

"Well, BB-8. To be honest with you, I don't really have a home. That's why I need a new ship. So I can find one." I pondered. Even though the droid had no facial features, it was easy to tell he was contemplating the thought of bringing me with him. Being as I'm a complete stranger.

Suddenly the robot whistled, welcoming me to the planet of D'Qar.
