Quickly, I refocused my sight. Kylo began taking off his mask, I've never seen his face before. He had his father's bold nose that's for sure. His hair was long and curly. He dropped the mask.
"Your son is gone. He was weak and foolish like his father." He spat venomously.
"That's what Snoke wants you to believe. But it's not true. My son is alive." Han began closing the distance between them.
"No. The Supreme Leader is wise." Ren stated firmly.
"Snoke is using you for your power. When he gets what he wants, he'll crush you. You know it's true." Han argued, stating it as if it were a well known fact across the galaxy.
Ren lowered his head, "It's too late."
"No, it's not. Leave here with me. Come home. We miss you." Han spoke gently to his son.
They began to speak so softly, it almost seemed as if Kylo was beginning to give into his father. He pulled out his lightsaber, holding it out to Solo. His father took hold of it. But there was a struggle between them. And just like that, a red sparked. As the saber went right through Han Solo's chest.
I could hear Chewbacca's scream.
"No!" Rey yelled, pulling me from my focus. Han's body fell off the bridge, as Kylo Ren looked up at us. Chewie and I both shot at him in the side. My shot hitting the saber from his hand, while Chewies hit him. He quickly used the force to grab his weapon before it could fall with his father. We began our escape.
The explosions began, we were running through the trees. I could only think of how I hoped the wookie made it out. About my brother in the sky, if he was still up there.
"The Falcon's this way." Finn announced, as we ran through the snowy trees. But a red light shown in front of us.
"We're not done yet." Kylo approached us. We stopped in our tracks.
"You're a monster." Rey glared at him, tears threatening her.
"It's just us now. Han Solo can't save you." He began hitting the side Chewie shot, blood fell from it.
Rey charged at him, but was quickly thrown back. Hitting a tree and knocking her unconscious.
"Rey! REY! Oh, no. No, no. Rey!" Finn rushed to her side, as she lay there motionless. I didn't take my eyes off the current threat. He pulled out the lightsaber that once belonged to Luke Skywalker. Taking his stance, as I pulled out my staff. Ejecting it to it's full length.
"Traitors! That lightsaber. It belongs to me." As if buddy.
"Come get it." Finn rushed into the fight, as did I. We began fighting him from both sides. He was strong and skilled. He swiped his sword at me, I held up my staff to defend myself. But it was easily cut in half. He kicked my stomach, sending me backwards. I groaned in pain. Looking up him and Finn were locked together. Blue against red, Finn was pressed against a tree.
Kylo moved his saber in the slightest, so that it began to cut into him with one of the smaller parts of it. Finn screamed in pain, he was released from the tree. As Kylo took one last blow, cutting his back. Knocking him out from the pain, the saber went flying.
He faced me, as I had clambered back to my feet. I looked to my broken staff.
"You know you're no match for me. Not with those blasters, not with that stick." He taunted me.
"No, I'm not. Not with those at least." I admitted, as I reached for a long handle clipped to my belt. With the other hand I removed my helmet. My hair falling, the top part was tied back. He laughed.
"And what's that going to do to save a traitor like you? A pathetic, weak bounty hunter?" He mocked, I tried not to smirk. My fingers rested on two different buttons.
"This." And as I pressed them, I ignited the old weapon. Two red sabers shot out of the handle. His eyes widened slightly, before narrowing into a glare.
"Thief!" He yelled, before racing forward with his own sword. I began fighting fearlessly, each of our sabers colliding sending sparks. It came naturally to me, using the double lightsaber that once belonged to Darth Maul. It was just like my staff, as I willed it to defend and attack. We clashed, Kylo went to swing at my legs. I lifted my body up in time, mid air everything slowed down. As I balled a fist, sending it through the cold winter air. Hitting him square in the nose. He stumbled back slightly, rage in his eyes, he gripped his saber with two hands.
You'll die here. With the rebel scum.
He was in my head. It was my turn to stumble back, grabbing at my skull.
"Get out!" I screamed.
"You're weak, you're going to die just like your family. Pitifully, but don't worry. No one will miss you." He lifted his saber, ready to kill me.
Swinging my own, I knocked his attack away. Coming at him furiously, rage consumed my body but my mind was clear. I started backing him up, he began to falter. Hitting one of the buttons, I had one blade. Flipping it around, I delivered a blow. Cutting his arm.
He knelt, looking up at me.
"I am death. I am fear. I am Odessa Paki." I stood strong, saber at my side. Releasing once again the other half of the weapon. His arm stretched out as he lurched forwards unexpectedly, his fist colliding with my stomach. I doubled over slightly, trying to catch my breath.
His hand reached for the saber that Finn had lost, still trying to regain myself. I watched as Luke's handle quivered in the snow, it launched powerfully and swiftly from the snow. But it did not find its way to Kylo. No, it went to a much more powerful source. Rey, the scavenger. She looked to me quickly then to Ren. Rushing forward to us, she swung at Kylo. I took his other side, his defense faltering.
She took off running, and he followed.
"Go to Finn! It's me he wants!" She yelled behind her, Kylo looked at me and growled as he knew that she was right. I hit the buttons, retracting the swords. Quickly navigating once more through the trees. I could hear the sabers hitting one another in the distance.
As I reached my friend, I slide in the snow next to him. Shaking him gently, tears threatened my eyes.
"Come on, Finn. Wake up." I leaned down to his heart, I could hear it but barely. It was fading fast. Placing his head in my lap, I rubbed his face gently.
"FN-2187, as your ranking officer. I command you to get up this instance." My voice wavered. Throughout the years in the First Order. Finn was my only friend, he had become a brother to me. He was there for me after missions, he was there to help me to the medical section. He was there for my first failed mission. I couldn't think of losing him, like I did my parents.
I pressed my earpiece, "Chewie, this is Odessa. Finn, Rey and I are near the outskirts of the tree line. Requesting immediate pick up, Finn's down and Rey is fighting Kylo. I'm with Finn now." I reported. The radio static is all that I was met with.
"Finn, remember when we first met? It was a year into my training. I was suited up, and you asked why I was so short for a boy? And I took my helmet off, and said that my boobs were also too big for a boys? How you tripped up over your apology? How we became such good friends?" A tear fell down my face.
The planet groaned and rumbled, we were doomed. It began to crack open as Rey reappeared through the trees. We stared at each other, before a bright light shown behind me. The Millenium Falcon. Chewie rushed down the ramp, picking up Finn. We all ran quickly to the ship. Boarding it as the ground gave way beneath us.
And just like that we were off to safety.
