The door was slammed shut, as Poe marched out. A cracked sob escaped my throat, never had I ever revealed to anyone about my past. Let alone a man I had only met briefly once before. But, with telling him I had mentally re-lived that night from three years ago. And here I was, trapped where I thought I'd never want to be.

I didn't know whether to believe Poe or not. Was the story of the pilot true? That he felt remorse for killing an innocent family. About the Resistance coming to save my brother and many others from the First Order? Questions and emotions mixed together in my head and heart. It wasn't until a voice cleared, that I had noticed the pilot returned.

Sighing, wiping tears that threatened my eyes away. I looked to Poe then to the open door, "What do you want now?" I asked harshly, my gaze returning to his brown eyes.

"I'm sorry I pressed you. But, you need to stay calm right now and try not to yell." He said putting his hands up calmly. I looked at him suspiciously. His eyes stayed on me as he slightly turned half of his face away from me. He was fighting a smile. How could he be smiling right now? With him seeing me in this state. With him pushing me to this.

He took a step forward, gently grabbing my hands. He held a key, releasing me from my chains. Before I could even move to throw a punch, he grabbed my hands once more. Rougher this time.

"Soldier, you can come in now." Poe summoned, dropping my hands and moving aside. A man walked in, he was wearing his orange flight suit. His helmet still on with a skull bandana covering his mouth, and you could see a chain around his neck. An ungloved hand, pulled out the chain. A green and blue amulet hung from it. My eyes widened, as tears stung me. But I dare not let them fall. He slowly lifted his helmet off, revealing my own eyes in this strangers head.

Handing the helmet the Dameron, he slowly untied the bandana. And there, in the flesh stood my baby brother. Cain Paki, living and breathing. My heart stopped, hands reaching up to my mouth. I could no longer hold my tears back.

"I told you you looked like a friend of mine." Poe crossed his arms smugly, my eyes went to the cocky pilot then back to the man that stood several feet in front of me.

"Hey sis." is all he had to say.

Now I understood why Poe released me. I ran into my brothers arms, my own arms wrapping around his neck. Crying into his shoulder, I could hear him choke slightly from the overwhelming emotions we were sharing. We stood there for a moment, not wanting to abandon this. After all these years, I had believed my brother to be dead. But here he stood before me. Well and alive.

We pulled apart, I looked to Poe. I bit my lip, knowing I had to choose my next words so carefully. He stared back at me, waiting for me to say whatever it was caught on my tongue. I wiped my face with my hand, standing up straight out of my brothers embrace.

"Poe, I need to have a word with General Organa. But first I need some alone time with my brother." I demanded. Poe rubbed his lips together, which after formed into a warm smile. He nodded.

"Of course, Miss Paki." and with that being said, the commander left the cell. I looked up to my brother with a huge smile. Jumping on him again, squealing in delight. He laughed, his voice so much deeper than I remembered. But that was the thing, my baby brother was no longer a baby. He was a man. A pilot like he always dreamt of being, for the Resistance none the less.

"Let's go to my quarters, this is no place to talk." Cain suggested, examining the room.

My eyebrows raised, "Are you sure I can leave my cell?" I questioned, concerned I'd get him and myself in trouble. Or at least myself in more trouble than I was already in. Cain looked at me, a smirk look on his face as he shrugged.

"Dameron may be the best pilot, and a good looking guy. But who could resist my charms?" Cain smugly said, and there it was. The Paki confidence that we both shared. And with that, I followed him from my cell into the Resistance base.

We walked through the corridors, passing other Resistance members. They all nodded to my brother, while giving me wary looks seeing that I had no cuffs on. I rolled my eyes, not liking this one bit. After five minutes of following Cain navigate to his room, we stopped. He looked down at me. I remember the last time I'd see him he had just reached my height, and now he staggers well above my five foot six inches.

He smiled, "I can't believe you're alive." He breathed out.

"Yeah, well I saw the house get blown up. So, I really can't believe you're alive." I retorted. He let out a short laugh, keying in his door's code.

"Not everything is a competition Dessi." Oh, how I haven't heard that nickname in so long. It brought back old feelings. His door slid open, he gestured for me to go in. Looking around I could see how despite three years of aging us had happened. He was still the same messy sixteen year old I remember.

"Oh brother, everything is a competition with us." I sassed as the door closed, allowing us our privacy to catch up.
