Dear Friend,

I can finally say that I made it through the first week of my senior year of high school. Today is also the day of the sleepover that Normani invited us to. I am really excited to go. This is the first sleepover I will be attending in months.

Dinah, Ally, and I decided to share the cost of the pizza that we purchased before heading to Normani's. On the car ride there, Dinah was again making remarks as to if I was going to share a sleeping bag with Lauren. I don't think I will hear the end of it so I finally confessed to Dinah and Ally that I am starting to have feelings for Lauren. This made Ally floor the breaks in an instant, sending me into a shock as I almost hit my head against the front passenger seat. Luckily, we were driving in a neighborhood. Otherwise, I think we would have gotten endless amounts of honking noises at what Ally just did. I don't even think Ally nor Dinah even realized that I had almost been sent flying off my seat as they were screaming in excitement and practically planning the dates me and Lauren would have and how cute we would be as a couple.

"Mila this is the first time you've ever liked someone in your whole life! How can you just sit there and not be excited?" Ally was right. I know what you're probably thinking that I have only known Lauren for a week so why am I feeling like this? I don't know what it is about Lauren that I like. There's nothing in particular that I like about her. Yeah, her eyes are magical and can make you feel like you're in another dimension. Her smile is the most comforting I have ever seen, almost as if it were a safe place like everything is going to be alright. Her laugh is so contagious; its like if I made Lauren laugh, my day would have been made. And don't even get me started on the way her mind works. I don't know, it's practically unexplainable. The way she expresses herself and her wise mind is amazing. Lauren is an ethereal puzzle and these traits are what make her, well, her. So, I guess my answer would be, I like Lauren as a whole. The pieces of puzzle piece that make Lauren the way she is are intertwined and equally important in her creation.

When we arrived at Normani's house, which was practically a mansion, we were welcomed with Normani who was very much so as excited as Dinah and Ally. I was excited too, but I tried to contain myself since I was holding four boxes of pizza which I did not want to drop. Normani took Dinah and Ally on a house tour and I told them that I would soon join after I put the pizza in the kitchen.

As I made my way into the kitchen, Lauren welcomed me with a huge grin on her face, following with her basically hand feeding me a deviled egg. "Is it good? I'm sorry I didn't mean to just shove that in your mouth. I was just really excited to see you and wanted you to taste what I made." I didn't mind Lauren feeding me the egg, because it tasted delicious and I told her. I don't think I could bring to tell her otherwise even if it didn't taste good. The other girls soon came barging in the kitchen as they too, tried Lauren's deviled eggs and complimented how well made it was. We chatted in the kitchen for a while, eating pizza and deviled eggs. I think Dinah had about five slices. I also think we were too excited to even sit down and eat at the dining room table, but it was fine because everyone seemed to be having fun.

After eating, we got into a debate on what movie to watch. Ally and Normani insisted on wanting to watch The Breakfast Club but Dinah, Lauren, and I were feeling romantic and wanted to watch The Notebook. Of course, with majority rules; we ended up watching The Notebook.

I was sat between Normani and Lauren while Ally was nearly dozing off in a lounge chair and Dinah who was knocked out. Soon, everyone was asleep besides Lauren and I. We were near the end of the film and I was sleepy, but I wanted to finish it even though I already knew the ending.

When the movie was over, Lauren grabbed my hand and told me she wanted to take me somewhere. Of course, I couldn't say no so I followed as I was told. She led me into the backyard of Normani's house which is probably the most beautiful backyard I had ever seen. The deck was made out of wood which surrounded the whole pool. Followed by a view which was a wide array of flowers and plants. Lauren asked me if I wanted to go for a swim, but this was the one thing that I could deny her. I was feeling a tad chilly so I did not want to risk catching a cold.

Lauren and I talked for hours, sitting on the outdoor couches next to the fire pit that Lauren insisted on lighting since I told her that I was cold. She also insisted on us drinking alcohol that Normani's parents had a large amount of in their wine cellar. She didn't force me to drink, but I wanted to because this was the first time in a long time that I would be acting like a regular teenager would in a chill out with friends.

Our conversations ranged from what our favorite thing to do was to what we wanted to do after high school. Lauren said she enjoyed working with children and so she wants to become an elementary school teacher. I think Lauren would be an excellent teacher. I expressed to Lauren how I didn't quite know it yet what I would be doing after high school. I know I want to go to college, but it would have to be at our local community college. Unless I receive a scholarship; I don't think my grandmother could afford it. I also do not want to leave my grandma and Sofi behind.

I only had a couple sips of wine, because I did not want to get drunk. I did not want to forget the stories and beliefs that Lauren expressed to me in the next morning. In my belief, she was drunk. Lauren began slurring her words and her eyes looked drowsy. A moment of silence hit us for a minute and that is when Lauren asked me, "Camila, do you think I'll ever find someone who will truly love me?" The question took me by surprise, but I told her what I thought she needed to hear and also what I thought from the bottom of my heart.

I told Lauren how she has a beautiful soul and that anyone who comes across her path would be lucky enough to say that they did. I emphasized how her beauty radiates from within which accentuates her physical beauty.

I truly believed what I had said to Lauren and I think she did too because after I was finished talking, she kissed me on the lips. The kiss didn't last long which I wished that it had.

Lauren looked at me in the eyes intently and apologized. I didn't want her to be sorry because, in all honesty, I liked the kiss. It was my first kiss and it got to be Lauren. I responded with a smile and told her it was okay.

The rest of the night was cut off short because Lauren fell asleep. She laid her head on my lap with a blanket around her. I thought to myself how divine and peaceful she looked. My thighs started to ache after a couple hours, but I didn't want to disturb Lauren's slumber.

I couldn't sleep at all that night because in that moment, I felt truly alive.

Yours truly, Camila
