Dear Friend,
Lauren went to go see Lucy at the hospital this morning before school. She said that the girl is going to be released tomorrow. I still feel uneasy about the fact that Lauren has been seeing her every day since she was admitted to the hospital, but it's not like I could tell Lauren no. Today is the second day of school since we got back from winter break. Everyone who'd been at the party has been pretty shaken up to say so the least. The hallways are a little quieter and everyone seems dejected, but it's not because school is back in session. Classes are seemingly more routinely than they had ever been in the past years. It seems like everyone was just there to be there; nothing more, nothing less.
"Hey sweet eyes," Lauren greeted, kissing my temple as she sat down beside me at our designated lunch table. Normani, Dinah, and Ally followed soon after.
"Lauren, you look like you haven't slept in days," Dinah pointed out.
"That's because I haven't," Lauren answered. "I've been checking up on Lucy every day since the incident and for the past two days, I been waking up earlier than I usually do to see her before school."
"You know, you don't have to do that Lauren," I told her honestly.
"Yeah I know, but I'm kind of responsible for why she's there in the first place. She saved my life, Camz."
"But she's fine, Lo. Her parents are there to take care of her." I continued, "Plus maybe you need to focus on you right now. With softball starting soon and-"
"Camila, I'm fine," Lauren interrupted, stopping me from finishing my sentence. "She needs me right now. Visiting her is the least I could do."
"You don't look fine," I replied, slightly raising my voice, annoyed at Lauren for interrupting me.
"Well then what do you want me to do, Camila?" Lauren asked, annoyance now in her own voice.
"Have you ever thought of asking me about how I felt about you seeing your ex-girlfriend practically every day since?" I know it was probably selfish of me to say that to Lauren, but my jealousy overtook my emotions.
"Camila, are you serious right now?" Lauren continued, "It's not like I'm there sparking up old flames with Lucy. I'm just there to help and be there for her."
"Okay!" Ally called out, stopping Lauren and me from further talking. "I think we should all do something to maybe loosen up a bit. I mean everyone has been so stressed out and dispirited. Maybe we can do something for fun."
"That sounds like a good idea," Normani agreed. "We can have a small get together at my place if you guys are down." The rest of us agreed in response.
Lunch passed by quickly with Lauren and I barely uttering words to each other or even the other girls. I thought about texting Lauren after school and apologizing for being on her case for visiting Lucy, but I thought that I would just apologize to her when we see each other at Normani's.
Dinah picked me up from my house to carpool to Normani's house.
"Dinah, do you think it's wrong of me to not want Lauren visiting Lucy at the hospital?" I asked Dinah honestly.
"I don't think it's wrong for you to feel jealous that Lauren is basically seeing her ex-girlfriend ever since New Years." Dinah continued, "but I don't think you can really blame Lauren for it either. The girl feels guilty for what happened, Mila."
"I know, but she shouldn't. It's not her fault and I don't know how many times I have to tell her that before she finally accepts it. I just hate seeing Lauren so overworked."
"It's okay, Mila. You said Lucy is getting released tomorrow, so that means that Lauren doesn't have to keep coming back to the hospital."
"Yeah, you're right," I agreed.
We made a stop at a nearby pizza parlor before finally arriving at Normani's. I also got cinnamon sticks for Lauren as a peace offering.
"Hey guys," Dinah and I greeted the three other girls who were sat on the couch.
"We got pizza," I acknowledged. "And I got cinnamon sticks for you Lo," I continued, giving Lauren a half smile.
"Aww baby," Lauren quickly got up from the couch and approached me. "I love you," she pointed out, cupping my face followed by a quick kiss on the lips.
"Sorry for raising my voice at you earlier," I apologized. "I guess I'm just a little jealous of how much time you've been spending at the hospital with Lucy and how much you've been overworking yourself."
"Camz, no," Lauren interjected. "If anyone should be saying sorry, it should be me. And you shouldn't feel jealous of Lucy. I love you and it will always be you."
"I love you too, Lauren," I assured her, followed by another kiss.
"Okay, this is just sickening now," Dinah interrupted, rolling her eyes.
"I think it's cute," Ally chimed in.
"Yeah it was cute until they started kissing in front of us like every five seconds," Dinah exaggerated. Lauren made a quick glance at Dinah, smiling before pulling me into an unexpected kiss. "Okay, now y'all are just doing this on purpose."
"It's always on purpose, Dinah," Lauren chuckled, making Dinah roll her eyes once again.
"Are you guys done? I really want to eat some pizza now," Normani acknowledged which everyone agreed to.
The girls and I ate pizza and watched The Hangover for the rest of the night. We also played Monopoly which revealed how competitive we all were. Lauren won. Just as everyone had fallen asleep, Lauren pulled me aside and lead me to Normani's backyard.
"Do you remember when I kissed you here for the first time?" Lauren asked, wrapping her arm around me and pulling me closer to her as we sat down on the outdoor couch.
"Kind of like this?" I asked, kissing Lauren passionately and recollecting the memories from that night.
"I love you," Lauren whispered in my ear, trailing kisses from my jaw and finally connecting our lips together.
I pulled away for a second, cupping her face in my hands, "I love you too, Lauren."

Camila
