Almost 2 months had gone by since Ally and Charles had met. They had become very close. Charles secretly had a crush on Ally. Of course Ally didn't pay attention to his flirting. She carried on like he was a normal friend.
To: Ally
From: CharlesHey! Meet me at the bench in 20.
To: Charles
From: AllyOk!
The bench in the woods had become a regular meeting spot for the two of them. It was quiet, peaceful, it was a great place for private conversations. Ally and Charles would meet up there and go to the movies or to get ice cream. Sometimes even just take a walk.
Ally grabbed her bag with her sketch book and pencil in it. Then she was off to the woods. She moved quickly, like she was eager to get there but she really wasn't. She got to the bench way ahead of time so she took out her sketch book and began to draw.
Charles also had reason to get there as soon as possible. He knew Ally would already be there and the more time he had with her the better. Summer was coming to an end and soon they would be going back to school. Unless their schedules were almost exactly the same they wouldn't have as much time together. Not soon after that the weather will start getting cooler, which means less visits to the bench, which means less of seeing Ally. Luckily Charles had a plan, he had been meaning to ask Ally something for a while.
Charles made it to the woods and found his way to the bench. Of coarse, there was Ally, sitting and sketching in her sketch book. Sometimes Charles wondered if she ever stoped sketching.
Ally looked up and saw Charles, "Hey! Is everything okay?" She asked in her concerned, caring voice.
Charles nodded and moved towards the bench. He made sure not to sit too close to Ally but not too far away either, "Just thought we should hang out. There's only a few weeks left until school starts up again. I want to make the most of it."
Ally's eyes lit up when she noticed that Charles wanted to spend time with her, out of all his friends, he wanted to take time to be with her, "sounds fun. What were you planning?"
"Thought we could get ice cream." Charles replied.
"You can. I didn't bring money. I'll just wait." Ally said a little disappointed that she had forgotten to bring money.
"Sounds great!" Perhaps Charles sounded a little selfish, getting ice cream for himself but that wasn't his plan at all. It just made his plan even better and even more likely to succeed.
Ally and Charles stood up and began to walk side by side. To them nothing could have been more delightful than spending time with each other the last few weeks of summer.
When they got to the ice cream shop Ally found a table to sit at while Charles ordered his ice cream. She took out her phone and checked her messages.
To: Ally
From: CassidyHey! Wanna hang?
Ally paused for a moment. She knew Cassidy was getting sick of Charles. Ally had been spending a lot of time with him lately, pretty much since they met.
To: Cassidy
From: AllySorry I can't... I already made plans with Charles.
To: Ally
From: CassidyYou know, I still exist. It's not just Charles. Lately you seem to think he's the only person there is.
To: Cassidy
From: AllyI know I'll hang out with you tm. I promise. Gtg bye.
Ally turned her phone off as Charles walked over with a cup and a bowl. He handed Ally the cup, "Strawberry milkshake!"
"Oh thanks. My favorite!" Ally smiled
Now was Charles chance, he had her attention, this was the perfect time, "There's something I wanted to ask you."
