It was 11pm and the party had come to an end. Charles and Ally were now driving to Ally's house, about a half hour drive. There was only 10 more minutes until they would reach her house. The night would have been perfect, flawless, beautiful, no one would have gotten hurt, no one would be crying, if it wasn't for the ice on the road.
Charles and Ally had been making jokes and talking about the party the whole ride home. All of a sudden Charles lost control of the car and it began slipping on black ice that had frozen. Then, at that moment, something terrible happened.
Crash!
"Charles!!! Watch out!!!!" But it was too late. Out of no where a large truck started coming and that's when it hit the out of control car. That's when Ally saw her life flash before her eyes. Colors and shapes. That's when she screamed and then...darkness.
Charles had tried to steer the car back onto the right side of the road, but it was too late, his car was wrecked, "Ally! Are you-" Charles looked over to see Ally, blood dripping down her forehead, eyes closed.
Charles was in shock, he didn't know what to do. He nudged Ally, "Ally! Get up! Ally come on! Your okay!" He put his ear up to her mouth to listen for breathing, then he put his fingers on her wrist to check her pulse. She was still breathing and she still had a pulse. He took out his phone and called 911.
"Please! I need help! I just got in a car crash... and... and my girlfriend... she isn't responding, she..." Charles stammered over his words and he was interrupted by the woman on the phone.
Her voice was calm and collected, "Does she have a pulse?"
"Yes."
The woman continued, "Is she breathing?"
"Yes."
"Alright tell me where you are."
Charles told the lady, thanked her, and then hung up. Not much later a whole bunch of police and firefighter were there to help and they got out.
A few months had passed since the terrible car crash. Charles sat beside a hospital bed remembering everything that had happened in the past year. He held Ally's hand with tears in his eyes. He watched as her stomach slowly moved up and down, "Ally, you have to wake up! You have to...." He Let a tear fall down his face. Charles paused for a moment as if Ally would respond to him but after a moment of no response he continued, "You can't give up because.... because... I don't know what I'd do if you were gone! I... I don't think I would be able to carry on!" Now tears freely streamed down his face. He didn't care if anyone saw him. He didn't care what people thought. His girlfriend was in a comma and all he could do was wait and hope for the best.
As he sat by the bed, thinking, talking, crying, he remembered that last kiss they had, Ally had completely took him by surprise. Then after they had finished kissing she had asked him something, "Charles, will you miss me when I'm gone?" It was a question that she didn't need to ask it was just something she needed to hear for herself.
Ally's question repeated several times in his head:
Will you miss me when I'm gone? The end
