GENESIS

Darkness was all I used to see
Coldness used to embrace me
Homeless, surely, I used to be
Yet it didn't stung like a bee

'Til God decided to lighten my world
Rays of light, he gave me thee
Warmth, now all over me
Right now, I do not want to flee

I seemed to love all o' these
Too comfortable, oh yes, it's me
All the butterflies, flowers, fruitful trees
Rainbows, they're all I ever want to see

The bright green leaves danced gracefully
The warm embrace I love from the breeze
This home I have here with me
Oh, I am loving all o' these

Drip, drop, drip, drop, goes on rhythmically
I looked up, the clouds are mad, oh jeez
Covered the sun which enlightens me
What have I done to deserve these?

Then, I realized what a fool I've been
Attached to the sun, loved the warmth
Forgetting that sun revolves even without me
Goes on even though clouds have covered it

Forgetting that sun will still live
That sun can go on even when covered with  trees
That sun can revolve on others
Not on me

While I, on the other hand, obviously
Would force myself to get used to the darkness once more
To live in the coldness once again
To be homeless for the sun left me with storm lashing at me

Darkness, coldness, homeless that's where I used to be
So I'll adjust, my dear, for my own safety
And never be blinded twice
By the same sun I've ever seen
