Erica woke up with the sound of the birds chirping outside the window. This was her favorite time of the year. It was fall and today was Thanksgiving. She could smell the turkey already being prepped along with the stuffing her mom was making. As she rolled out of bed, she looked at her clock and it read ten o'clock. She slipped on her slippers and ran down then stairs to wish her mother a happy Thanksgiving.
"Happy Thankgiving mom!" she said as she ran into the kitchen hugging her mom.
"Hey happy Thanksgiving to you too." she said returing Erica's hug.
"Dad's working?"
"Yeah but he'll be home by dinner. Everyone is coming at three."
"Okay. Is there anything I can help you with."
"I actually need a few things from the store if you don't mind running up there."
"No problem."
"Thanks there is money and a list on the ledge."
"Okay mom."
"Oh and Josh is coming over for dessert right?"
"Yes he is."
"Okay looking foward to meeting him."
"Okay mom. I'm going to get dressed and then I'll go to the store."
"Okay honey."
Erica went back to her room. There, she got dressed. She threw on her favorite jeans and a nice white and black shirt. Once she got dressed she ran a brush through her hair put on some make up and grabbed her coat. Before that, she checked her phone to see she had a happy Thanksgiving text from Isabella, Justin, Cody and of course Josh. She replied to them all saying Happy Thanksgiving and left. By then it was already 11:30.
When she left, she saw Josh walking down the street. She ran to catch up to him and hugged him from behind. He wasn't expecting it and he jumped.
"Now look who's scaring who." she said when he jumped
"Erica? What are you doing?" turning around to hug her.
She kissed him and said "I'm just running up to the store to get some things for my mom. How about you?"
"Same."
"Nice. Let's go then."
They walked for alittle bit. The air was nice, cool amd crisp. Erica loved it. The feel of the autumn breeze on her face alway put her in a good mood. She loved hearing the crunching of the leaves under her feet and the variety of leaf colors on the trees.
Josh broke the silence. "So what are you thankful for?" he asked.
"Well, my family and friends."
"Wow thanks."
"What?"
"Not me?"
"Of course I'm thankful for you. You didn't let me finish." she said leaning up to kiss him.
"Excuses excuses." he said woth a laugh letting Erica know he was only kidding.
"So what about you?"
"What about me?"
"What are you thankful for?"
"You of course. And my family and friends."
"Aw how cute."
"Thanks babe."
They walked into the store to see it packed with people. What else were they expecting? It was Thanksgiving morning. They helped eachother find the items on each of their lists and paid. As they left the store they saw some one entering.
