Erica was lost. She didn't know how to respond so she sat in silence. "This is why I didn't want to tell you." Josh said.

"No I'm not scared. Well yes I'm scared but I don't even know how to respond to that. He's not going to kill you. Not while I'm still alive."

"What if that's what he wants?"

"Yes because that would be a great way to win me over. Kill you."

"Maybe he feels that you would feel so empty and alone that you would be begging to go to him."

"Yeah right. Like that would work. Wait did Michael actually  say he killed Blake?"

"No but that's what the text said right? It said: Blake is dead but not by suicide. I'm going to get you just like I got him and I'm going to get Josh also."

"Yeah. So he only said that he was going to kill you?"

"Yes."

"Okay well that's not going to happen. I swear. If he tries, I'll get my dad involved."

"I like it."

"Good." Erica laughed.

Weeks had passed since Michael "lost him memory". Winter became spring and Josh and Erica havn't heard anything from Michael with him wanting to kill Josh. Everyday in school, Michael pretended to have amnesia and people believed him, but Erica and Josh knew the truth. Darren and Kyle still hated him but acted as his friend to help him regain his memory. Erica's birthday was around the corner and Josh was planning something big but wouldn't tell her what it was. Isabella had told her that he got her a great gift and that she will love it. All she knows is that it will help both of their families to get to know eachother alittle more. She kept begging her friends and his to tell her, but no one would budge. "C'mon baby, please tell me." she begged walking into English on her birthday.

"Not yet. You'll get it tonight." Josh laughed. Today was Friday and Josh was doing this whole big thing.

"Just not a surprise party please."

"It's not. I promise."

"Good. Do I need to wear something nice for this occasion?"

"If you want. You look beautiful in anything."

"Aw thanks baby."

"Your welcome." They sat down in english and Michael still pretended to not have his memory.

Erica got many happy birthday's throughout the day. But when ninth period nded, Erica went back to her house and got ready for the night. She had no idea what was going to happen so she wore the same outfit that she worre the first night they were alone. She curled her hair and put subtle make-up on just the way he likes it. When she walked downstairs, her parents were there. "Mom, your home early." Erica lit up

"'Yeah. I switched my days. I wanted to see you before you went on your big date with Josh."

"Did he happen to say anything to you? Like what he might be doing?"

"He said something to me. Wanting to make sure that it was alright. He wanted my approval." answered her dad

"Well, what is it?"

"I can't say. But you look beautiul and dressed right."

"Really? Thanks." She smiled There was a knock at the door. She answered the door. Josh was standing there with a bouquet of roses. "There beauiful. Thank you." Erica kissed him

"You look beautiful."

"Thanks."

"Okay, go get out of here. Have fun but be careful." said her dad.

"Okay. Bye mom. Bye dad." she hugged her parents goodbye and left with her arm linked on Josh's.

"So where are we going?"

"This way."

"Ugh okay." She couldn't make im crack.it was a beautiful night out and thy walked pretty far.

'Here we are." Josh said when thy reached and abandoned old building.

"Ths is my surprise?" Erica was let down

"No." Josh lead her inside and upstairs to th roof. Before he opened the door, he instructed her to close her eyes. She didn't want to argue so she listened. When he opened the door, he lead her onto the roof and told her to open. Once she did she started to tear. It was a table set for two with candlelight and over looking the lake. On the table was a single rose.

"I love it.'" She said. "And I love you. it's so romantic."

"Really?"

"Of course."

"Then let's sit down." Josh pulled out her chair for her to sit down. He brought out a tray of food. On it was two salads and two steaks. He served them and they ate.

"You cooked this all by yourself?'

"You surprised?"

"Yes. It's really good."

"I'm glad. Now there's more."

"More?"

'Yes." Josh stood up and turend on music. It was Erica's favorite song, I'm Already There, by Lonestar. He offered hi hand to dance she accepted.

"This night is perfect." she said leaning in on his chest. He lifted her head and kissed her. "I love you."

"I love you too." Josh sat her down when the song ended. "there's one more thing

"What else culd there be?"

'The last part of you gift. The part to make our families closer."
