Ash-

It was 5 in the morning.

Are you fucking kidding me?!

Nathan wasn't awake at this point, and I had to set his alarm for as loud as possible, because I wouldn't be there to make sure he got up on time.

I went over to Andi and Phoenix's room, leaving two cups of coffee. One labeled Andy, and the other labeled Fenix.

My cup was the only one with the name properly spelled. Nathan's, which I left on his nightstand, was labeled Nathin. I mean, I get Andi's being spelled wrong, but seriously?

I chuckled to myself as I walked into Mr. Lonsdale's office. The door was open, and I knocked twice with my pointer and middle finger knuckles, before walking in completely.

Professor Lonsdale looked up from his papers, a cold look in his eyes. He was wearing a red and black plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a pair of dark jeans. He wore black dress shoes, shoes that looked almost new. He had a small pair of glasses that weren't there yesterday, that were on the bridge of his nose, sliding farther down as he worked.

I, myself, didn't bother to get much more dressed than I had yesterday. I had a classic style that I wanted to maintain. I wore a lighter pair of jeans, a white shirt, and a red hoodie with sleeves rolled up. My shoes were just a pair of blue and white sneakers. My hair was still messy, considering I woke up at 4:45, and had to decide between getting coffee or brushing my teeth. So, I just popped a mint in my mouth, trying to wash away my coffee breath, and did nothing about the fact that my hair was sticking up all over the place.

Mr. Lonsdale scoffed slightly before turning his head back to his work. He ignored me besides that, resulting in my knocking louder on the door again. "What do you want, Miller?" He groans in his Australian accent.

I take a sip of the coffee in my hand. "Well, if you don't want your assistant..." I say, turning myself around.

"Ah, yes, see my assistant in," He asks with a wave of his hand.

I groan, and walk into the hall. A few seconds later, I walk back into his office. "I got your assistant right here!" I say, cheerful but sarcastic.

He looks up from his work, and looks beside me. "Where?" He asks.

I snicker. "Are you that stupid?" I scoff at him. "It's me!"

He seemed surprised, either that I was his assistant, or the fact that I had the courage to call him stupid.

He took his fingers away from the laptop he was typing away at, and pushed his seat from his desk. He slowly stood up, taking slow steps towards me. I stood my ground, leaning against the wooden door.

He scowled at me. "Did you just disrespect me?" He asks, getting so close to my face that I knew he had eggs for breakfast.

I make a thinking face, putting my hand on my chin. "Yeah, I guess I just did." I say, trying to hide the smirk tugging at the corner of my lips.

He backs away, crossing his arms. His face lifts slightly. "Good. I'm going to need an assistant with moxie," he informs me.

I laugh. "Moxie?!" I clutch my stomach from laughing so hard. "How old are you?"

He looks at me disapprovingly. "Only 26, for your information," he says.

You look good for 26, I think to myself.

But, clearly, it wasn't to myself. "Thank you..." Mr. Lonsdale hesitantly says.

I shake my head. "Oh, no no. I didn't mean... I just meant..." I sighed. "Fuck," I mutter under my breath.

He turns back to his dark, revolting personality as he turns back to his messy desk. "Okay, so as my assistant I expect you to be here every morning from 5 to the start of school, and immediately after school to 5." I should have expected him to turn back to this, and not stay that fun guy I was talking to a moment ago.

I nod my head, holding my hands together in front of me. "Yes, Mr. Lonsdale." I respond, getting serious. I needed to focus on my education here.

The bell, signaling 5 minutes until the start of class, rings, and Professor Lonsdale dismisses me with a wave of his hand.

Out in the hall, I meet up with Phoenix, Nathan, and Andi. We walk down the hall to first period, where all our classes were close together. Andi was hugging my arm, and Nathan had his arm around my neck and Phee's.

"How was tryouts?" I ask him.

Nathan scoffs. "Tryouts? More like warmups. It was easy. I'm already on a team, did ya know that? It's great."

I laughed at my friends enthusiasm and some-what stupidity. "Phee?" I ask.

She was doing choir. "You sure you want to know?" She asks. I nod my head. Sometimes it was hard, considering Jax and his choir career, but I loved seeing how Phoenix was doing. "Good. It's good." She says.

I groaned, annoyed at my friends inability to make conversation. "What's wrong, baby?" Andi asks.

At this point, we were all just leaning against a wall by our classes. We had already made a trip to our lockers, and were right outside our respective classrooms.

I chuckled. "These two," I jab my thumb at my two other friends, "are just so boring."

She giggles. "Well, then you talk. How was your assistant job? Assistant to Lonsdale. Must be boring." She comments.

I groan, banging my head back on the lockers behind us. "So boring! He's such a dick."

Andi giggles at my fowl language, and corrects my still messy brown hair.

Nathan pushes himself off of the lockers as the bell rings. "Well, it won't be that hard, right?"

I shrug as Andi drags me into class with said dick teacher. I hope he was right.

How hard could it really be, right?
