Hey guys! I'm increasing the update for just this book to 3 updates a week. I'm now adding in Saturday.
Ash-
Anger flared up in me. "What?!" I screamed at him.
I didn't care if she knew. I didn't care if I got expelled. I didn't care.
I loved him.
My vision became blurry from the drops of water threatening to pour over my eyelids. "Keiynan... I love you."
His face fell.
We hadn't said that to each other yet, but I knew, I knew, he loved me too.
"I love you, Keiynan." I repeat. My head was down. I couldn't look at him.
And I knew from the way he didn't pick up my chin, he couldn't look at me, either.
When I did sneak glances up, Sarah was glaring at him. Then me. Then him.
She coughed, reminding Keiynan of whatever it was she wanted. Him, I assume.
"Ash, we're over. That's it." He says, earning an approving nod from Sarah. He looked at her, though, with a fire in his eyes. "But, Sarah, let me talk to him one more time." He was stern. He phrased it like he was asking permission, but his tone said wasn't.
He grabbed my wrist from where I was on the couch, pulling me with force.
Keiynan looked deep into my eyes, and I could see the tears in his. "Ash, I'm sorry." His voice quakes while he talked to me. "I... I love you too." He looked behind his shoulder to see Sarah tapping her foot, looking away from us. He connected our lips, but just as fast as they were there... they were gone.
"But-" at this point my voice was shaking too, "-can't I just move schools? Or-or..."
Keiynan stroked my cheek, removing a tear that had escaped. "Ash, this is best for you. Okay? I couldn't be the reason your education sunk."
I couldn't look at him. "Do... do you want to be with her?" I ask.
Keiynan's chest puffed out as he took in a nervous breath. "No. I don't." He confesses. "And I won't let anything happen between us."
"So then why does she want you?"
"Sarah just wants to make her ex jealous. He probably broke up with her, and this is her idea of revenge."
"Time's up." Sarah says in a sing-song voice, her foot tapping louder and faster.
I couldn't argue with him.
Once he had his mind made, it was made.
"I love you, Ash." He kisses my forehead, and then walks over to Sarah.
I was left just stunned, standing in the corner of his house. Sarah sighed. "Can't the little twerp just leave already?" Then came an evil laugh. "He's just a kid. I don't understand what you see in him, Kee."
With tears still threatening to fall, I storm out of the house.
I walk aimlessly on the sidewalk, no place in mind. I got calls from Nathan, and even Andi and Phoenix. But, I didn't pick any of them up.
Tears streamed down my face until dark.
I had no idea where I was.
Nathan's car pulled up beside the sidewalk. "Ash! Ash, get in! You're gonna get drenched!" I look up, only to realize that it was, in fact, raining.
I get into the car with a sigh. I couldn't bare to look at Nathan's worried face. "Where were you, dude?" He wraps a jacket around my dripping and shivering body. "Why are ya so far from the dorm?"
I don't answer.
"Let's get you home, and warm. Andi and Phoenix are there. They're worried about you."
Once we get to our dorm, Andi and Phoenix were, in fact, there.
After putting on some fresh clothes and drying off, I sat on the couch with my three friends staring worried stares at me. "What happened, Ash?" Andi asks me.
I sigh. My hands were being warmed by a coffee mug in my hands. "It's a long story." I tell them.
"So," Phoenix thinks, "start with why you were all the way out there."
"Um..." I had to tell them. It was time. "Well, I was meeting a guy named Keiynan." Nope. I couldn't do it.
"Why?" Nathan questions. "Who is he?"
"Well, we are - or, were - dating."
Andi gasps. "Is that why... is that why you broke up with me?"
I chuckle slightly. "You really are smart, Andi. You are."
"Where'd you meet him?" Nathan continues. There was practically steam coming out of Andi's ears.
"School."
"What class? Do we know him?"
I didn't want to lie to them. "Yes, you do know him. I met him in acting."
Andi scoffs. "There's no one named Keiynan in that class!"
"Let me rephrase. I met Keiynan Lonsdale in that class?" My voice raises from my nervousness that it came out as a question.
Andi bolted out of her seat. "Lonsdale? As in, Professor Lonsdale?!"
My friends look at me curiously. "Yes." I admit with a sigh.
"You-you were dating your professor?!" Nathan asks.
I nod my head. Andi shook hers. "I cannot believe you. You broke up with me to date someone, like, 10 years older than you."
"Actually, he's only 8 years older than us," I correct her. "But, yes. I did. I was gonna do it sooner, but when you told me about..." I run my hand over her now bulging stomach, "... I just couldn't do it."
"And nobody found out?" Phoenix makes sure.
"Nobody."
"So, then, why were you crying, man?" Nathan asks.
"Well, not nobody. His ex found out. Sarah. She threatened Keiynan that she'd tell the school if he didn't break up with me and go out with her."
"I don't know what to say..." Nathan shakes his head.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lied to you."
"You shouldn't have lied to us, Ash. This isn't just about me being mad. This... this is impacting all of your friends. Hell, it'll impact your kids!"
"I know, and-"
"Ash, just stop. Stop apologizing." Nathan stands up. "Come on, guys, let's go." With that, Andi, Nathan, and Phoenix leave me feeling confused on my dorm couch.
What just happened?
