Throughout the day we continued our plans of going to the few reservations we had set for the day. "Hey, Dale? I know she's your mother and all, but why do we have to hunt her down" I ask while we squeeze around a group of people taking up the entire sidewalk. "Other than her leaving your dad as she did"
Dale stops me at a bench, and sits me down. He looks at me with a serious expression. "I want to know why she chose to cheat on him; like what the hell, my dad isn't a bad guy or anything, he deserves answers and I am going to get them for him" I give Dale a hug and lean my head on his shoulder.
"You know you never told me what happened between you and your parents, if we're going to do this I want to know" He smiles down at me, before standing again and pulling me over to a street-level pizza parlor.
"There isn't a big deal I mean I don't think there is? My parents both suck, they pretty much left me home alone all the time when I was growing up, and when I was like 16 they chose to leave on their 'Business Trips'. They'd leave a stack of cash behind so I can take care of myself, which is illegal to leave a minor home alone like that but whatever, it's not like I got in trouble, nobody knew" I say while pulling a chair out sitting at the small table near the back. A waitress quickly comes over with two glasses of water before taking our orders.
"Living alone wasn't bad all the time, I mean I may have grown up lonely and had nobody to make friends with but who cares, I shrugged that off"
"That's...kind of depressing," He says while reaching across the table and taking my paw in his. "But today has been nice, it was good to get out and do stuff with you," I say as the waitress comes back with our food. We silently eat, before paying and going back to the hotel. I strip my clothes off before crawling into bed, waiting for Dale to be finished taking care of his scales.
"I'm not meaning to be sexist or anything, but you take longer than a woman in the bathroom. I could help if you just asked" I say while laying on my back with both of my paws behind my head, and looking over at him still polishing his scales. Dale huffs when he comes out, before removing his clothes and joining me in the bed.
"Sorry if I gave you attitude, I am just not in the best mood right now" I scoot close to Dale and lean my head against his chest, wanting him to know that I will always be by his side.
"Life is gonna get easier, we are just going to have to work hard until we are happy" I give his snout a kiss before closing my eyes and falling asleep.
Dale gives me a few shakes trying to wake me up. "Felix wake up! There are some furs at the door who are asking for you" I groan before getting out of bed, and going to the hotel door to see two furs in fancy suits.
"Uhm? How may I help you?"
"Felix? My name is Angel and he's Jacob" Angel motions to the other fur who is next to him as I flash them a small, awkward smile.
"Uhh ok... that doesn't answer my question, what do you want from me? Did I do something wrong? Break the law?" I ask while looking them over, they're both dressed in snazzy black suits with red ties; maybe they're detectives wanting me to go down to the station or something.
"We're sorry to intrude, it's just your brother sent us to track you down and take you to him, there is no rush so don't fret or get worried. We will wait in the main lobby until you're ready to meet him. Your partner is also invited to join us of course" I nod my head before slowly closing the door, trying to wrap my mind around what just happened. I have a brother, who hired private investigators to track me down, so we could meet?
"Is this some kind of sick joke, Dale?" I turn to face him, confused but also worried about what might happen when we do go to the main lobby. "There are other exits than just the main lobby, right?" I begin panicking while pacing around the small room. Our pleasant little vacation might be on the verge of turning into some sort of nightmare.
Dale begins packing our things up as quickly as possible, throwing our clothes into the suitcases before notifying the front desk that we will be leaving the hotel earlier than expected due to an emergency, and that the key cards will be left on the counter once they enter the room.
We run out the door and down the stairs, before carefully crossing the lobby and out to Dale's car. We throw our bags into the back before climbing in and quickly driving out of the parking lot. "Dale please hurry, I don't want those guys to see us ditching the hotel." Within the time we had, we managed to drive the airport Dale looks at me worried knowing we just ditched his whole plan that he had.
"Okay so there's tickets heading to Sydney, Australia in about a few hours so I can book those and from there I am going to probably have to get a new phone so that they won't be able to track it or however else they found me." Dale places a finger against my lips getting me to stop rambling. "Felix! When is it going to stop?" He asks with tears in his eyes "I won't stop you and of course I will come along with you, but when will it end? We run off to another country and then what? They will end up finding us again" Dale slouches a bit so we can meet eye to eye as he puts a paw on my shoulder, and tries to stop himself from crying.
"Those two guys looked like trained professionals, and clearly we are just two guys who are barely able to make do" I let out a sigh putting my head onto his warm chest. "I know I know... it's just that I am not ready to face my family... What kind of parents let their kids be raised by a nanny. I mean don't get me wrong she was nice and all, but I wanted my parents love and what, now they are hunting me down along with a brother who I never knew existed!" A few tears start to drip off my face onto Dale's shirt, I look up to face Dale who keeps me close letting me just let out my emotions.
"I will follow you until the end of time but for now how about we make Australia our last trip for a bit?" I give him a smile and nod my head, before wiping my eyes and getting ahold of myself.
"Sounds good," I say while grabbing Dale's paw in my own and taking one deep breath, then exhaling through my nose.
"We face challenges head-on, okay?" Dale gives me a tighter grip. "I will try my best"
