Hopper drove his team over to the lab to do their part of the plan. Once he got out of the car, out came El, Mike, Rey, Bob, Keelan, Ryder, and Cat. They had their plan laid out entirely and they were positive it was going to work. And if it didn't work, then they were screwed and the whole world would be screwed.
The police chief handed Bob a gun to use while everyone else walked inside the lab. El looked scared being back in the lab, worried that she would be forced to do experiments again. Mike noticed this so he squeezed her hand tight. The two exchanged small smiles at each other, both of them reassuring each other that everything will be okay. No one was going to die tonight. They were going to save everyone.
The lab was unusually quiet during this time. That made everyone anxious because they thought that they had been spotted and that the bad men were coming. That never happened and it confused everyone. But once they got into one of the hallways, what th u saw brought horror to their eyes.
The men were all lying against the wall or floor, dead. Blood was pouring out of their chests and they had claw marks all over them. One of the men was Dr Brenner himself, which made everyone gasp. El bent down beside her dead papa and eyed him over. This time she has to make sure he was dead before moving on to other business. Even though Brenner has tortured her for years, she still didn't want him dead.
"I'm sorry Papa," El murmured before standing back up.
"Why are you sorry? You should be happy that old Brenner Saggytits is dead," Cat said. El looked confused, but ignored it. Then the group continued forward to get to the elevators, ignoring any dead body that was lying there.
The elevator came up as soon as they reached it and they went down. The group all had their weapons ready as soon as the door to the bottom floor opened. Right as the door opened, there were Demodogs standing right there. Hopper and Bob quickly shot at them while El, Rey, Keelan, Ryder, and Cat used their powers. Since Mike was still a little weak with his powers, he used a gun so he could save his energy.
Once they cleared out the path, they all continued forward to where the gate was.
...
Back at the cabin, Steve was with the kids waiting out for everyone else to come back. Joyce, Jonathan, and Nancy went to a different location to get the monster out of Will. They had taken a bunch of heaters with them too. Steve was annoyed because he didn't want to watch the kids while everyone else was doing things to help. The only thing he was doing was being a full time babysitter along with making sure that the experiments don't escape. At least that was something.
Dustin and Lucas were getting food out of the fridge to be able to eat something. Max was sitting on the couch, bouncing her leg anxiously while glancing at both the experiments and the wall in front of her. The experiments were sitting on the floor, bored and annoyed. Steve had a dish towel on his shoulder and was looking out for any incoming cars.
"Ugh! Why is there no chocolate pudding in here?!" Dustin cried out, annoyed.
Steve rolled his eyes. "I don't know. Maybe because the chief hasn't bought any?" He responded.
"I'm bored. I want to do something fun," Lucas complained.
Steve facepalmed. "Then go outside if you want to be eaten by a monster or that Shadow Monster thing," he said sarcastically.
"Why can't we do something to help? There has to be something we can do!" Max said, sitting up a bit on the couch.
Steve groaned and turned to face everyone. "Because the chief said that I had to keep you shitheads safe. No going outside, no helping unless we get orders, and we have to eat what's in the cabin if we're hungry. Even if it means eating your vegetables," he explained to all of them.
Dylan raised an eyebrow at the babysitter. "What are you, a father?" She asked in a sarcastic tone.
"I'm a mother thank you very much," Steve corrected.
"Not much of a difference there," Heather added in.
Steve rolled his eyes at them. "I hate all of you," he declared before collapsing face first into the couch. "I HATE CHILDREN!" He shouted into the cushion. Everyone jumped when he yelled due to him being loud.
Max groaned a little and stood up from where she was sitting. She marched over to the experiments and dragged them all into the separate bedroom. They all looked confused and they glared at her before she sat down on the bed and rolled up her sleeve to reveal her 012 tattoo. Then they looked shocked.
"No one but my family knows. I used to live here in Hawkins known as Twelve. But then my mom and dad rescued me and took me to California, where I lived for a long time. But then my parents fought over my powers, both of them being scared of me and not knowing how to hide my powers. Then my dad just left us. My mom said that it was for the best when she explained it to me later. But then she met Neil Hargrove and decided to hook up. Then he and my stepbrother, Billy, moved in with us and we moved back to Hawkins. I don't know why here though, but I guess I'm just the forgotten experiment," Max explained.
"And what exactly are your powers?" Jordan asked, crossing his arms against his chest. Suddenly, a water ball came flying straight at him and it hit him in the face. Max smirked at him and crossed her arms. "Alright, Watergirl," He said, wiping some of the water off of his face.
"I think we should help the others at the lab. I know you hate us, but wouldn't you want to save the world so you can have it to yourself? I won't let you destroy the regular humans, but I will let you destroy any monsters you see so we can help Mike, El, Hopper, Rey, Bob, Keelan, Cat, and Ryder," Max explained.
The four experiments exchanged looks with each other. "Whats in it for us?" Damien asked.
Max raised her eyebrows a bit before rolling her eyes at them. "We'll figure that out later. Are you in, or what?" She asked, holding out her hand. After a few minutes of silence, the experiments put their hands on top of hers.
"We're in," Dylan declared.
