Your POV

I was currently sat on a bench outside my house fanning myself due to what felt like extreme heat.

Don't get me wrong it is usually warm here but we have a heat wave this week and I'm already struggling, I felt more sorry for my bestfriend Whitey, he was a deputy so was stuck in the station all day and because my house was opposite the station I regularly saw him.

Whitey POV

I was at my desk right in front of the fan looking at (y/n), even though she is my bestfriend don't mean I wasn't going to fall for her at some point I mean what sane person wouldn't?

Her (y/h/c) hair was pulled back into a braid and her (y/e/c) eyes shining in the sun.

Even though she was frowning and all sweaty she still looked perfect to me.

"Are you going to do some work today or just gonna stare at (y/n) all day?" Sheriff asked me

I looked over to see him smirking "is there an option or?"

He chuckled "I honestly don't know why you won't admit you like her"

"Because we're bestfriends, how many people do you know that fell for their bestfriend because I know none" I said turning back to look at her

"I knew one" he said

I looked at him "really? What happened"

"He ignored his feelings, like your doing, then she married and had kids, it broke him that he didn't do anything about it" he said

"Where is he now?" I asked curiously

"Living alone in Mexico, he said seeing her happy with someone else killed him so he moved but never loved any other woman they he did with her, so now he's alone and asking himself why he didn't grab her while he had the chance" he said

I looked back at her

"Look son, (y/n) is a very pretty girl, always smiling and has a heart of gold, you know her best and she trusts you, if you want my advice go get her before someone else does because I bet you anything your not the only man in this town that likes her, but they want her for a family, you want her because she makes you happy" he said

"Since when were good at giving advice on this topic?" I asked

"Since I met the love of my life, now stop sitting here wishing you had her and go do something about it" he replied

"What now?" I asked confused

"No next week... Yes now go you have the rest of the day off" he said smiling

I grinned "thank you sir" I grabbed my hat and walked out

(y/n) was still on the bench fanning herself, I thought about what I could do

"Just be you Whitey, just be you" I mumbled to myself and walked over to her

Once she saw me she smiled and waved

"Hello Whitey, what can I do for you" she asked

I smiled at her "just wondering if you wanted a trip down to the lake? I need to get water and didn't want to do it alone"

"Sure, I might accidentally fall in and cool down" she said and got up

I chuckled at her humour and we set off

"How have you been?" I asked her as she kicked a little stone

"Sweaty, tired due to lack of sleep and only just making it through the day... You?" She replied

"Also very hot and incredibly bored" I said

"Sheriff not working you hard enough?" She asked

"Nah there's not much going on" I replied

"Probably because no one has the effort because of this bloody heat" she said glaring at the sky

"Or they've decided to be good people" I smirked

"Are we seriously still bringing this up?" She asked rolling her eyes

"Well you didn't think I would let it go do you?" I asked her raising an eyebrow

"Well any normal person would but oh yeah your not normal" she grinned

"Charming" I huffed but smiled

So I guess I should explain, a little while back (y/n) came by the station but she was a bit drunk

There was a lot of people in the cells and she told me to release them free I obviously said no and she asked the prisoners if they were 'good people' and begged me to release the good people

When I told her the next morning she was mortified and told me to send her home next time she got drunk

"I am a very charming person I thought you would know this by now" she said grinning

"That I do" I looking at her

"Well here we are" she said looking at the pond

"Yeah I'll just fill this up" I said grabbing the container

After I filled it I suddenly felt someone push me, (y/n)

As I fell I grabbed her and took her down with me, we both sat up laughing and she got up

"I knew you were going to do that" she said smirking

I got up and looked at her "oh really?"

She nodded "yeah that's why I did it because now I'm cooler so I thank you"

I smiled "the pleasure is mine, now there's water in my boots" I moaned

"I wouldn't worry it will evaporate by the time we get back" she said squeezing the water out her braide

Now Whitey tell her now! I told myself

"(y/n)?" I asked

She looked up and smiled "yes?"

"I haven't been completely honest with you and honest to god I didn't expect it to happen but I can't take it no more.. i love you and have done for a while, I didn't want to say anything because I was scared then Sheriff told me this story about his mate having the same trouble and is now living alone and I-"

She cut me off quickly by kissing me, I was a bit shocked at first but soon returned it. She pulled away and smirked "you never stop talking when your nervous, I love you too Whitey ok? So don't panic"

"So you'll be mine?" I asked

"I was anyway" she said and I kissed her again more gently though

I finally got the girl I wanted and now I was going to treat her like a queen for the rest of her life. Even through the tough heat.
