"Now I know better"

REY POV

"We meet at the points here, here and here" Poe had pointed at the map.

We agreed that it was time we struck back at the First Order. All we had done was defend and although the saying goes 'a good offence is a good defence' we could feel that everyone was becoming annoyed.

"If we are going to do this we are going to need all of our best on the line" Poe looked at me.

"The objective is to simply infiltrate and take their plans," He said seriously looking at everyone in the crowd.

"We do not get caught"

"In order to infiltrate the base though we will need Finn to use the access code" He looked towards Finn giving him a nod.

"You will be split into teams all following and protecting team six which is Rey, Rose, Finn, Mei and I. Since the ship will be empty it would be best that we take the prisoners with us." He added and gave a glance at Mei. I could not quite tell what it meant but I knew that now was not the time to ask.

"Alright you know the plan," He said with a smile. "Now get out of my sight" He joked trying to act like a strict general.

I walked towards my cabin and decided to get ready. I was decided to be the leader of the mission and the infiltrator because only I knew how to block myself from Kylo Ren. I was the only one who could get on without him noticing and leaving alive. I grabbed all my things and headed towards the ship. It was time for the First Order to meet the beginning of their end.

MATHIAS POV

"We have to find a way out" I said and turned to look at Lacie.

She looked the other way completely ignoring me.

"Lacie now is not the time to ignore me" I said frustrated. God, as mduch as I loved her she knew how to drive me absolutely crazy.

"You know why I am ignoring you" She said

"No I don't know what I could have done to make you upset" I said genuinely confused.

Lacie was a quiet and shy girl so it was difficult to see her like this.She usually forgave me as soon as I apologised. Instead this time she stood up and walked right towards me... and slapped me in the face.

"You know exactly what you did. Hurting Mei like that. Are you crazy she is your sister!"Lacie yelled in my face. Her cute cheeks were completely red with anger.

"I was doing my duty" I said clenching my jaw trying to not yell at her. Although she was angry I knew how delicate she was. But she had to learn the First Order comes first.

"I don't care. And I don't want to go back to the First Order" She mumbled.

"What!" I yelled. I watched as she flinched and instantly regretted it.

"There is nothing holding me there. Not anymore" She said sadly.

I grabbed her hand.

"I'm keeping you there" I said in a sad tone trying to convince her I needed her.

She looked at me with teary eyes.

"I knew for a long time that you were slipping away from me. I knew that you were changing into someone I didn't love... couldn't love. I kept ignoring it and I finally realised how much of a mistake that was when you shot Mei." She said looking down at the ground with a shaky and uneven voice.

"I'm not changing. I haven't changed" I pleaded with her.

"Please just-" Before I could finish my sentence the door opened and Mei walked in with two pairs of cuffs.

"Hey Mei" Lacie said in a happy and clear tone despite the fact that she was about to cuff us.

"Hey Lace" Mei smiled. "Do you mind?" Mei asked genuinely worried about us both.

"No it's fine I understand" Lacie turned around showing her wrists.

I knew exactly what was going on. Lacie was giving into the Rebellion. Right in front of me. She was proving that she was no longer the enemy. That she was no longer on my team. I watched as Mei put the cuffs onto Lacie focusing on her wrists. While Mei was distracted Lacie looked at me with a disappointed look.

"Oops the other cuffs are broken. I'll be right back" Mei said and quickly ran away leaving Lacie cuffed to the bars of the prison.

LACIE POV

This is so ridiculously awkward. He just kept looking at me and I couldn't turn away. To make matters worse he walked towards me so that I was looking him right in the eye. He was so close I could feel his breath fanning on my face.

"Mathias" I breathed out.

I watched as he flinched. I haven't called him by his real name since the time we met. He knew what this meant. Everything in my body begged me to kiss him. To forgive him and take away the sad look on his face. But I couldn't, Mei was my best friend and protected me in the academy. She means the world to me, although Matt did too I had to draw a line.

I watched as Matt drew his hand up and stroked my face. His eyes held longing and regret and so much restraint. As he stroked my cheek I leaned into his touch as much as I could and closed my eyes letting out a slow breath. I opened my eyes to see that he was watching my every move, as if he was trying to remember every movement, every crease in my skin, to remember the way I felt and the way I made him feel. The door was beginning to open and I watched as he quickly retreated to the other side of the cell.

MEI POV

I walked back in and everything was normal. I could sense a lot of tension in the cell and could tell that Lacie and Mathias had gotten into an argument. Their relationship was hidden from me for a while because they were both worried about what I would think. As soon as I found out I was beyond happy. I knew that they were a perfect match and I was glad that Lacie was able to bring out a side of my brother that had been buried a long time ago.

"Hey uhh" I said holding up the cuffs.

He looked at Lacie with an emotion that I could not quite figure out and nodded.

I was surprised but instead of being astonished I took the opportunity to cuff him.

"There is an important mission that we are doing and we need you on board so that you are not alone on this ship. Please try to make things a bit easier" I begged them.
