A gentle quiet had long settled over the darkened living room. It was late into the night, bordering on the early hours of the day, as the first of the five drowsy figures began to stir.

Gabriel opened his eyes to find the world around him still in blackness. He could feel the pressure of another person pressed up against his back: Sam. Gabriel smiled. Slowly, he began to try and roll over; instead, he rolled off the sofa and onto the floor with a soft thud.

One of the dogs stirred in their sleep. Aside from that, no one moved.

Using the coffee table as a support, Gabriel pulled himself up off the floor and took a look around him.

Sam was still lying flat out on the sofa with Bazil, the black Labrador, cozied up at his feet as he snored softly. It took Gabriel several moments to work out where the others were; Jade, Alfie and Elsa were all lying fast asleep under a pile of blankets, pillows and, if he wasn't mistaken, dog toys.

Gabriel's attention was caught as Sam's phone screen lit up. Picking up the phone from the coffee table, Gabriel placed his thumb over the home button, which recognised his print and unlocked. Gabriel checked the notifications. There were ten unread messages and two missed calls from Dean.

Impala67: Sammy, do you think you could come home?

Impala67: Sam?

Impala67: I know it's late, but you need to get up.

Impala67: I'm serious.

Impala67: Elsa's not answering her phone either. Are you two okay?

Impala67: Answer the phone, dammit.

Impala67: That's it, I'm coming to get you myself.

Impala67: I cannot find my fucking car keys.

Impala67: Sam, could you just pick up?! This is important.

Impala67: SAM!

Gabriel let out a low whistle. All of the messages had come through in the last half an hour.

"Sam," Gabriel whispered, moving over to his boyfriend. "Samsquash, wake up."

Sam's hand moved further under the cushion he was lying on, as if he were trying to get comfortable.

"Sam," Gabriel hissed, pulling the cushion off him.

Sam suddenly sat up, grabbing for the cushion with lightning speed and almost causing Gabriel to topple backwards in shock. "Sorry," Sam mumbled. "Reflexes."

"S'fine." Gabriel smiled and then he remembered. "Here, you might want to check your messages."

Sam took the phone quickly, his eyes scanning over the string of messages that Gabriel had left on screen. Sam's eyes widened. Something bad was happening. "See what's going on," Sam whispered, pushing the phone back into Gabriel's hands, "I'll wake Elsa."

Dean practically leapt on his phone the second it lit up.  Beside him, Cas moved closer so he could read over Dean's shoulder.

Moose:  It's Gabriel - Sam's fine and he's waking Elsa up.  What's going on?

Dean breathed a sigh of relief but couldn't restrain himself from gripping Cas' hand tightly. He'd been so worried that something bad had happened.

Impala67: Can't explain over text. Need Sam and Elsa back here, stat.

Moose: We'll have to walk over, give us half an hour.
