"There's no way you're actually serious," Sam argued, sat in the front seat of the Impala.  "Someone would get hurt!"

"That's the point," Dean hissed back, swinging the car around a tight bend.  "You think I wanna find Dad and go out to grab a bite to eat?"

"Dean," Sam sighed, "Provoking him will make it worse."

Ignoring his brother's comment, Dean drove the rest of the way to school in silence.  He'd dropped Cas and Gabriel back at home the previous evening and, since then, had been constantly trying to locate his father.  Benny and Elsa had automatically started helping, whilst Sam had contributed reluctantly.  If his siblings were crazy enough to try this, he told himself, there's no way in hell he'd let them do it alone.

"Alright," Dean said, pulling into a parking space and swivelling around in his seat.  He sat at an angle, having both Sam and Elsa in his line of vision.  "Meet back here as soon as the last bell goes.  Don't be late."

"'Kay," Elsa nodded, exiting the car from the back seat.  "See you later."

Dean put a hand up in a half-wave.  Then, he turned back to his brother.  "Okay, Sammy.  Go be a nerd."

Rolling his eyes, Sam eased open the car door.  At least school offered some form of normality, even if it was only temporary.

Sam's first lesson was Biology.  As much as he enjoyed the subject, he'd always found the teacher, Mr. Moriarty, somewhat unnerving.

"Today," the professor drawled, interrupting Sam's thoughts, "We'll be learning the points of the human heart. In fact, I believe I do have a heart for us to look at." He strode across the room, a smile tugging at the corners of his thin lips. The class watched as he carefully handled a glass container.

"Not to worry, Miss Lucent," the professor addressed a younger girl sat nearest to him, "This is a cow's heart. The school would never let me show you a human one."

Sam felt himself relax a little. He hadn't exactly been fond of the idea of looking at a dead person's organ — not, he reminded himself, that he hadn't done that before.

"I bet it really is human," Gabriel whispered from Sam's left.

"That's unlikely."

"But not impossible."

"Mr Novak," Mr. Moriarty called.  "Since you seem to be so interested in talking, why don't you tell us all something about the heart."

Gabriel leaned back in his chair, displaying the prefect picture of being entirely at ease.  Mr. Mortiary glared at him.  "It's the most vital organ in the body," Gabriel recited, trying his best not to roll his eyes.

"Good.  I'm glad to see you were paying attention."

"Oh don't flatter yourself, Jim, any idiot could have guessed that."

The class turned in their seats, all eyes landing on Mr. Holmes, who was stood in the doorway.  He was leaning slightly against the frame, one ankle crossed in front of the other, looking thoroughly bored.

"I'm assuming there's a purpose to your visit," Mr. Moriarty drawled.

Both teachers, it seemed, were determined to look as disinterested in the situation as possible.

"I just came by the office.  There's a certain Sebastian Moran who's asking, not at all politely, to see you."

"Alright."
