Training gone south

The Fenton parents parked the ship near the mechanics and took the Ectotastic inside. They immediately started talking with the yetis there and explained in more detail everything about it.

The rest of the group stayed outside awkwardly talking to each other.

Fenton grabbed a handful of snow from the ground and splashed his face with it. He shivered but was quickly feeling hot again.

Frostbite approached him. "Are you alright?"

Fenton nodded but was interrupted by Phantom. "No, he isn't. A while back, I had an attack as my body tried to get used to being apart. I'm guessing this is kinda what is happening with him."

Fenton waved his hand. "No. It's probably just the new powers acting up."

"New powers?" Frostbite was interested. "What are these new powers?"

Fenton counted on his fingers. "My eyesight and hearing increased. I can manipulate ectoplasm much better than before. I can feel the ectoplasm from far away."

Frostbite hummed. "That is very interesting. Have you good control over them?" He smiled when Fenton hesitated. "What do you say we relive old times?"

Fenton grimaced. "I don't think your people would appreciate that."

"Oh do not worry. They enjoyed the show. Us yetis need some action once in a while."

After some convincing from Sam, Tucker and Phantom, he accepted and everyone made their way to the arena.

The news spread quickly and by the time they got to the arena it was almost full. Fenton's friends quickly sat down on the empty seats before they could be claimed.

"Yeah!" Richard waved his hands from where he was sitting. "Get 'em Danny. Kick those yeti butts!"

"They're not dueling, Richard." Kim rolled her eyes. "They're training."

"Oh." Richard paused. Then he shouted out again. "You go, Danny! Train the heck out of 'em."

Fenton wiped some sweat from his forehead as he made his way to the middle of the arena next to Frostbite, who would again train him.

Frostbite clapped his paws. "Let us begin. Even though I have not sufficient knowledge on your new powers, I will help as much as I can."

"Thanks, Frostbite," Fenton wiped his palms on his pants, wishing he could just roll them up. "But don't tell me to stop sweating because I can't."

Frostbite laughed. "Try something else then. Start small. You said you can feel the ectoenergy. Close your eyes and concentrate."

The boy did as he was told and spread his awareness over the arena and farther. He could feel every yeti sitting around them. He heard Frostbite's voice talk to him. It was clearer than before.

"Look as far as you can. Find your limits."

He did and Fenton gasped at all he could feel. He could see everything at once. The whole iceland. The surrounding lairs. He saw the Ghost Writer's library a little ways off and made a mental note to avoid it.

Suddenly something close to him moved fast. It flew straight at him. Out of pure reflex Fenton brought his forearm up and felt something hit it. It was soft and cooled his arm for a second.

Fenton blinked his eyes open and saw that Frostbite had thrown a snowball at him.

"Good good." Frostbite ignored Fenton's glare as he praised him. "Your reflexes are in working order. Let us try that again. But this time either counterattack or dodge. If that had been an icicle it would have impaled your arm."
