The green ectoplasm of the Ghost Zone swirled around. Constantly changing. It moved around the endless space, only interrupted by floating islands and lairs. Doors drifted up and down, leading to uncharted lands and other ghostly territory. A few simple ghosts floated past, minding their own business and not giving any attention to the gaping humans inside the human-made machine intruding their world.
Maddie looked at Jack to make sure and he nodded. Everything was going alright. She had opened the windows so that the children could see. The reason they could close was for safety.
She pressed her face against the window and looked back. She goaned when she spotted a few of their materials floating around next to the spacecraft and drifting away as she looked. "It still doesn't work perfectly. We're still taking pieces of equipment with us. Is..is that my newly finished electrost gun?"
Jack pouted as his wife grumbled about having to make a new one. "Awww. And I liked the name." He smiled at her. "Don't you worry, Mads. We'll just make a new one and you can take the oportunity to improve a few things on it."
Maddie smiled fondly at her husband, who grinned. "And I know just how to call it!"
The smile faded.
Meanwhile Danny inspected the ghosts floating by at a reasonable distance with concern. He searched eye contact with Sam. She was already looking for him. He signed her with the language the trio had invented. Danny had taught his friends how to speak ghost, which seemed to be the universal language in the ghost realm and most ghosts knew. Kind of like English in the human realm. Danny had picked it up from the times he had talked to friendly ghosts. Him being a halfa certainly helped in learning it since the language had different vocal noises than how humans talk. It had taken some time but eventually the three of them had gotten the hang of it. Just like Esperanto, which was spoken by a few ghosts like Wulf. Then they had turned it into a sign language, mostly just for the fun of it. Although it did come in handy in many cases. Such as this one.
What do I do? (For the benefit of the non-educated in ghost culture this has been translated from 'Ghost' to 'English') Danny signed at Sam, who shrugged.
You should leave your mark. You're pretty famous here, most ghosts will recognize it.
Danny thought about it. A mark was something a ghost left somewhere to mark his territory. It was close to what dogs do but much less disgusting....but close. It was mostly left in lairs or kingdoms. You decreeted it as yours and if other ghosts saw it, they would know who's there and who's territory they're entering. It could be a warning for enemies and a welcoming for allies.
Danny looked at Sam uncertainly. I don't know. It might do the opposite of what we want to happen. What if it attracts ghost instead of scaring them away. You know how Skulker is.
You can take Skulker just fine, Danny.
Yeah, in my ghost form. When I'm aloneee and no ghost hunting parents are around or my identity isn't at risk.
Maybe your parents can take them on.....or your mom, more specifically
...yeah. And this is an antighost flying space machine. Why am I worrying.
......because you are a ghost?
Sam. I had just found a way to calm myself down. You ruined my peace, thank you very much.
You're welcome. Now, are you gonna put that stupid mark or not.
Fine fine. But if something goes wrong, I'm blaming you.
