Admit it, shit got to you and you changed because of it. ✨
Have I ever told you how much I just hate physics? Not only is it a pointless subject, and a subject that everyone seems to fail in, but it's a boring one too.
This new girl though... She's... definitely different from the rest. I mean she doesn't even look like a real girl. She certainly doesn't dress like one. Nor does she sound like one. Heck, she doesn't even try to act like one. It's like, she is a girl but detests anything a normal girl would do.
It's amazing, really. She's... well different. Definitely something from the rest.
What else can she do? Play Soccer? Nah, actually that's probably a bit too much to ask for. P-lease. The day a girl plays soccer on our team will be a silent wish come true.
Maybe Chase was right. How did he know that I like these types of girls? I mean, heck, Rose was the complete opposite. The cause of this whole reckless bad boy appearance.
It doesn't mean I want to be like this. But, like people say, when shit gets to you, it gets to you and really changes you. If all girls are the same, then why bother?
"But they're not. Not all girls are the same, Jaykie." Rose whispered in my ears, as I fell into her trap. "Some girls are different. Like me." And it was the biggest lie you told me.
"Thinking about the voice message I left you with the other day, right?" Chase asks, startling me from my very own dark pit of thoughts.
My mind was a dark place, no doubt. So dark, I don't think many would be able to explore or understand it, because all the people I've met... well... they're the type to keep the light on at night. Well, all excluding my Group, of course.
And that is exactly what I needed, what I need. Light. Something I thought I had back then, and then I thought I had lost. But really, it was temporary. I didn't really have light in my life. She tricked me.
"That was the girl you were talking about? The one who took my seat and gave it up because you hit a weak spot?" I asked him, rolling my eyes, smirking.
Coming to think of it, I never smile anymore. I'm never genuinely smiling. It's either a smirk, or a lopsided smile. Not a real smile.
Any smile I give is fake. It's armour. To protect yourself. Because that's exactly what you need. To be able to protect yourself from getting hurt, making sure you don't fall through the same ploy twice.
"Yeah, her. She's an amazing-" he got cut off by the sound of his phone vibrating as he looks at a message. What is she so good at? Comebacks? Well, yeah, I can see that.
News of her standing up to me on her first day will be spread by lunch, no doubt. But there's something I can't pin point. It's like, she's done this before and she just doesn't care. Well, it seems like it.
Maybe she does care. Maybe, inside, she's just an insecure person in need of light in her life also. Who knows what she actually needs.
You sound like a girl, Jayden. Shut up.
I do not! But yes, I will shut up for my own good, if not yours.
Good.
"She has a fire in her. Not many girls have that. I mean, it's usually burned or diminished into a spark. Let's admit it, she's feisty, and you love that shit." He says in a hushed whisper.
"How would you know?" I ask him, actually confused. It's not like we spend our time talking about girls.
We spend our time valiantly fighting a way to win the league and beat James' ass. And just you wait; This year it will be us. It will be us who will hold the championship cup. It will be us who won't lose a match. It will be us, who will proudly stand up whilst James' team cowers in shame. Okay, maybe not valiantly because we ain't no knights, Sherlock.
"I'm your best friend man, don't chat shit. I know literally everything there is to know about you. Though best friend sounds sappy...." he says and kills his speech, whilst I burst out laughing.
"But isn't she pretty? Actually never mind... She screamed at me for calling her pretty..." Chase whispers and scratches his neck sheepishly, a very faint of blush lingering on his cheeks. He never did well around girls.
"No she isn't. Well she is, but she isn't. Get it? And she screamed at you? No screech? No high pitch? I was meaning to ask you that. Was it like a normal scream or...?" I ask him, laughing whilst rubbing his back gently to rub this in.
Chase blows a strand of blonde hair away from his hair and pouts. "Come on, Chase, I'm sorry. But your funny." I say, knowing he's messing with me.
"Yeah yeah." Was all he said as he lightly chuckled, uncrossing his arms and fixing his hair.
"I bet you can't wait for the tryouts." He says to me and I smirk. "Well, it's not like I cant be. But obviously, I'm ready," I say, smiling.
"Are we holding them at lunch... Or After School?" He asks me and I shrug. "If we did it at lunch, there honestly would be no point. Lunch is long, but not long enough to ya know, have tons of people try out." I tell him and he nods.
He starts scrubbing down some random notes, words and stuff. We sit in silence. Me, well, I'm just tapping my pen on the desk.
"Let's place a bet," He says suddenly. I look at him, raising a brow. "10 dollars." He says and I look at him, astonished. This is going to be very interesting.
"You never place bets because you lose. And when you do, it's normally one dollar...? What's going on?" I ask him and he shakes his head, looking at the girl in front of us, scolding the guy because he doesn't get anything.
Funny pair those two. She keeps explaining what it is, and the guy doesn't get it. But, then again, the guy would probably be me. I find Physics utterly useless.
"I have the strongest feeling your gonna owe me. If I win, then, this person becomes my lucky straw. Literally. " He says and smiles. "Besides. I'm 10 times sure I'll win, hence 10 Dollars."
"Okay, what are we betting on?" I ask him, still confused on how he could be so sure. I honestly wonder what the hell is gonna happen. And I feel like he knows what's going to happen.
"Well, I bet that only 5 trials will be held. I was going to say 3, but then the person who we pick might not be there so 5." He says and I shake my head.
"This is by far your worst bet, kiddo. I mean, to find Barry it took us three days of 20 tryouts. But I place this because I want 10 dollars." I say to him and he shrugs, not fazed at all. Well, that means I bag a free 10 dollars.
"If I do win, you will gimme my 10 dollars, correct?" He asks me and I scoff and say "of course. But your chances are pretty slim. Like 5% out of 100. But sure, I'll give it to you." I say to him and we both nod.
We shake on it and look at that, class is over. Time for lunch.
"I'll be waiting for this person. What was the name, Jordan? Or Cody?" I ask him and he laughs. Confused, I wait for him to elaborate.
"That's the thing. You won't ever guess who it is, even if you want to get it so bad. Ahhhh I love this person. Not in the other way you dirty minded freak." He says and I look at him, heck even more perplexed than before.
"Look, you'll get it once they come and play, Kay? Anyways, I need to go ask Alexis something." He says and that him, off.
Bring this shit on, Chase.
