She was unstoppable.
Not because she did not have failures or doubts, but because she continued despite them. ✨I feel a small tap on my shoulder and immediately turn around, to be met by the face of Huntsman. I like his surname...
"Hey Alexis. I have like the biggest favour to ask." He said I looked at him, wanting him to carry on. You don't blindly agree to favours. You never know where the ditch might be. *wink* what's up with my brain today?
Scratch that, what's up with everyone's brain today?
"Well, are you gonna apply for the soccer tryouts after school? We really need a left winger..." he says and my eyes probably visibly brighten. I literally feel them get wider.
"Well duh!" I respond, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which it should have been. I mean football is my one true passion I haven't given up.
"Cool. Right. I need you to do me a favour then." He says and I nod, all in. What happened to the whole ask them first thing? Well some things are exceptions, of course. Like soccer.
"Get to the tryouts within the first five minutes. Okay cool, got to go before Jayden finds out what's going on." Is all he says and leaves. What Jayden is the Bryce guy, right?
Strange. Everyone's acting all funny. What's up with the world today?!
I start walking to my locker, and take out the schedule. On the back I wrote the locker combination because I think I already lost the paper.
Oh well.
I open my locker, placing the gloves that Jerk gave to me to give to Cody, when really they were mine. Mine had stars on it...
What, I like stars, okay? Sheesh. Tomboys can like stars! Goodness. Lots of stereotyping going on. I can feel it from here.
I slam the locker shut and go back to my original plan, go to the grassy area of the campus and kick a ball.
I find a shady tree, that sounds so... shady, and drop my gym bag there, taking my ball out. I start with the easier stuff, like kick ups.
Those kick ups slowly turn into volleys, with me kicking at the middle of the tree. Lunch is great. I'm still on my own, though.
I stop to call Cody and ask where he is, when I feel another tap on my shoulder. What's up with people and tapping my bloody shoulder?
"Bought you food!" Codes exclaims and I snatch it out of his hands, moody as ever. Whenever it's a girls time of the month, she will crave food. Or that's just me. Meh.
"Someone's PMSing... Big time." He says and I grunt, because it is true. "Definitely." He assures.
"Have you seen Jerk?" I ask him and he shakes his head. "We shared the first two classes and the last class, well he had Physics." He says and I nod.
"Oh okay. And yeah, I had Physics with him. What do you have after lunch?" I ask him and he whips out his schedule.
"I never knew they had social studies... I have social studies next." He says and I laugh. "Lucky me, I have it too," I reply and he smiles goofily.
"Now, can we play keepie uppies?" I ask him and he nods, as we both place out food down on the ground.
"Okay, I start." He announces and I nod, giving him the ball. "Why are you carrying around a ball in the first place?" He asks me and I shrug.
"For exactly this reason." I respond. "Your honestly prepared, then." He says and I laugh. "Nope! I'm living with one pen and a single notebook."
"57. Whoop. That was okay." He says as I nod. "Not bad. All I have to do is get 58 now." I smirk and he rolls his eyes.
"You always pick games that you win at. Actually never mind, I don't stands a chance against you." He says and I shrug. "You beat me on Saturday?" I hand him and he rolls his eyes.
"Barely!" He exclaims and I laugh. "When you love something, your bound to be good at it. Like how amazing your gonna be when you go for Rug- I mean American football." I say and he nods.
"I get what you mean. Anyways, your turn." He says and I nod, as I make it up to 56, purposely losing the ball and balance to make Cody feel happier.
What can I say, I try to be considerate.
"Well, that's another time you've beaten me." I say, winking and he rolls his eyes. "Yeah, you totally didn't purposely lose the ball."
"Yeah, I really didn't!" I exclaim, sarcasm visibly dripping from my mouth as he rolls his eyes again. "How many times do you roll your eyes in a day, mister?" I ask him and he shrugs. "Whenever your around."
I bump his shoulder and and he bumps back.
"Alexis! There you are!" Calls a very feminine voice from behind. I turn around and see Ava standing there.
Ava's large brown hair is cascading behind her, some lighter where the sun hits her hair, the wind running through them. Her skirt reaches about mid thighs, but she's wearing mid thigh socks to cover them. Her electric blue eyes shine in them suns spotlight, as her warm smile reaches her eyes. Talk about perfect moment to capture a photo.
She waves at me, laughing at the fact that I have my lunch in one hand, my football in the other and that Cody is just standing there, making faces.
She pushes her cute nerd glasses back up and I laugh. I walk up to her, dragging Cody along with me.
"Hey Ava! Where've you been?" I ask her and she says, "oh you know. Inside the cafeteria like a normal person," She says, referring to the food in my hands. Well, I mean, it is lunch.
"I wasn't even going to eat. I wasn't really hungry, but this guy bought it out for me." I say, referring to Cody. "You didn't even have breakfast. The apple doesn't count, sis." Cody says and I shrug. "I'm kinda used to having it twice a day. Apple in the morning is good enough."
"Oh wait, Ava, this is Cody, my younger brother. And Cody, this is Ava, my new friend." I introduce them to each other, and Ava shyly tucks stray hair behind her ears.
"Hey." She says shyly and I smirk, looking at Cody's dumbfounded expression.
I lean closer to his ear and whisper "someone's got a little crush." His nose goes bright pink, and I laugh. "I'll leave to you two alone. Besides, I gotta find someone." I say, getting no response from these two love struck people. I like playing matchmaker.
This is fun man. Okay maybe if your not left alone...
Great, now the only two people I probably have associated with have gone against me. On the first day.
Thinking about what to do, I re-tie my ponytail and tighten it, my chestnut brown hair touching my back. I finally decide I'm going to finish eating.
After eating under the tree, I look around for Cody and Ava and then sigh. No where in sight. Guess that's just my luck.
I go to my last two classes, with Cody and Ava sitting next to each other and me... well, I sit on my own at the back. No, it wasn't lonely. I was busy listening to music to pay attention...
