I try not to like him, but I fall even harder.
✨"Dork!" Jayden teased me, whispering in my face at around twelve. Ava and Cody had gone to sleep, so we were trying to be a little quiet. But clearly, it wasn't necessarily working.
"Loser." I replied back, a girly smile plastered on my face. Good thing it was pretty dark so he couldn't see.
"geekess!"
"Weirdo!" I replied quietly, making circular motions at the side of my head to emphasise it. Oh God, I love my job."Mine."
Before I could respond back, I finally registered what he said. I shoved him lightly in the chest, giggling slightly. "That was bloody smooth, you motherfucker!" Wait giggle? Wow, I was changing and boy was I changing fast.
"I know, babe, I try." He winked at me, just as I could make out the closing of his chocolate right orb for the split second.
"Will you two shut up?" Cody asked from the bunk underneath us, annoyed, before whispering sorry to Avaline who slept in his arms. I replied with a gruff 'okay' and then leaned into Jayden, inhaling his intoxicating smell.
I looked up at him, only to see him staring at me with calmness in his eyes. Then he sent me a smile that sent my heart racing past a hundred knots per hour. He pecked down, swooping my lips for a few seconds. "I really am in like with you, gosh."With that, I'm pretty sure my face turned a nasty scarlet and I buried my face in his chest, and he quietly chuckled. I felt the soft vibrations in his chest and that was able to calm my accelerating heart down, somehow.
"I'm in like with you too, sucker." I replied, mumbling into his chest. But the power of sleep was a lot stronger than I was and I let out a long, jaded sigh.
"Go to sleep, princess. We have our Semis tomorrow." He advised, stroking my hair and I nodded, laying my head against his chest - only to feel how fast his heart was accelerating.
"Your heart is super fast." I commented and he continued to stroke my hair - and I could feel the smile lining his voice as he spoke."It's only ever beating this fast for you." I think, in that moment, I silently died. What the actually effing hell did I do to deserve such a perfect guy? I had no bloody well idea. But I did know that I was glad I'd met Jayden Bryce. He flipped my world from havoc to calm, from dark to light, from sadness to happiness. And for that, I couldn't be more grateful.
And I mean, his perfect chocolate orbs that anyone could get lost in - and his always disheveled brunette hair. I got why people swooned the fuck outta him. Oh God, Do not forget the six pack. The fucking six pack.
Above all, Jayden was a beautiful person, in and out. I couldn't have asked for more - and I'm glad this was what I got set up with. I mean, now I had a guy who played football as much as I did as my boyfriend. Just saying, I think that was bloody insane and very lucky.
Then the thought struck my mind. But before I could process it, I was mumbling, "I think I might be in love with you Jayden.", before snuggling closer to Jayden, wrapping my arms around his torso and falling asleep to the rhythm of his heartbeat.
