"God, I hate school." Jayden grumbled and I laughed freely. Walking down the corridors of school still hadn't changed.
People were always staring, poking into your business and what not. It was weird. And it wasn't only because me and Jayden were dating - or in their eyes, they couldn't believe we were still together. I wasn't about to leave him, and same with him.
It was also because of the fact we'd restored the faith into the school for football/soccer fans. Mainly because this was the first time in years we'd brought home the cup.
Talking about the cup, it was placed in the hallways which were near the principal's office. It was in a glass cabinet, and under it there was a (fake) gold plaque which wrote out which year it was won in.
Accompanying the trophy cup, there was a game which had a picture of the team. It was taken after, when we had won the cup. It was being held up by me, but I was on Jayden's back. It looked so... surreal. The only girl in the team was holding the cup up, and our smiles were so... so jovial, so jubilant. We were overtaken with complete euphoria.
But Mr Principle didn't stop there, oh no. He'd decorated the section with pictures of every member in the team, in our team set up like you see on tv when you're watching a match. Then, on another side, there was a picture of each of us, with our names underneath.
The oak and mahogany column which the trophy and glass cabinet stood upon had a quote engraved into it, eloquently. Encarved a and painted into it;
"A successful team beats with one heart."
I always smiled as we walked past it. We were the closest friends with the tightest bonds. Yeah, we had two main friendship groups within it. But when it came to playing the game, we had the same brain, the same beating heart. We all played on the same wavelength.
And that was the beauty of it all.
Lost in my thoughts but holding Jay's hands, I thought about everything intensely. I was insanely lucky. I had the love of my life walking with me, my dad, my brother. I was surrounded with nothing but love.
Especially coming from a place where love and warmth was a distant want, I had it now. And I was super grateful for it all. I wouldn't want another life. Even if I was rebirthed a hundred times over, I would still choose this life.
Even if it was painful, it was worth it.
My head suddenly felt a hard metal locker. I was pinned up against the locker walls, and Jayden was smirking, looking into my eyes. "A penny for your thoughts, my princess?" He whispered.
