(Keefe's POV)

"Sophie! Sophie!" I called after her as she ran down the hallway. I hadn't meant to call her freak. It just slipped out. She was anything but a freak. I knew that she hated being different and freak was the most extreme way to say it. However, I thought it was good that she was different, even a little cool. She gets extra powers, and her eyes are different compared to everyone's blue.

I tried to yell these things when I felt myself collide with someone. "Keefe! What are you doing?" Biana grumbled. " "Sophie!" Was all I could say. I looked around to find Sophie, but she had disappeared, and was nowhere in sight. She probably used a brain push. I groaned in frustration. "What about Sophie?!" Biana asked, her voice shifting from anger, to worry. I sighed, not wanting to let Biana know what I did. "Well, we had a big fight, and I umm...sort of...called her....Freak." *Slap* "Yeah, I deserved that." "Enough about you, we need to find Sophie!" Biana said,  running off in the direction I was headed. I got up, and started running after her.

The way I saw Sophie went lead outside. Great. Now she was somewhere in the wide elven world. On top of that, She could teleport. "Biana!" I called. "Get Grady and Edaline!" She nodded without complaint.

Now where would I go if I were Foster. I would definitely run as far away as possible. I searched far away from Foxfire. I searched the area for hours. It was already nighttime, but I didn't care. I would find Foster. I wondered where Biana was. finally, I sensed a mix of emotions. They were spiking every which way, but I still knew whose they were. "Foster!" I yelled into the the night.  I got no response, but the emotions got stronger. I followed them to a beautiful blue lake, but I couldn't stop to admire it. "SOPHIE FOSTER!" I screamed, my voice cracking. Traitorous tears slipped down my face. Then, a blinding light shined behind me. I tried to turn around, but it hurt my eyes. When the light finally died down, it was just a little more than a glow, but what was glowing was a surprising.

"Sophie?" I whispered. The blonde mass of tangled hair and blue dress didn't move, but the glowing stopped. "Keefe!" I heard Biana's and Fitz's voices call. "Over here!" I was able to say. When they came into view, I was stunned at how many people had come. All 12 of the councillors, Grady & Edaline, Alden and Della, Elwin, and Mr. Forkle. "Move aside!" Elwin boomed. Everyone scooted back, but I stayed stock still. Fitz had to pull/drag me away. After Elwin flashed many orbs around her, he sadly said, "She's gone. Her mind...is broken."

I collapsed onto the ground. It was my fault that she was gone. She was the only one who could heal minds, but she couldn't heal herself. She might be gone forever. All thanks to him. "Don't lose yourself now! Sophie needs you!" Alden's crisp accent filled my head, but I only clung to one word. Sophie.Sophie.Sophie.Sophie...SOPHIE! I pulled out of my dark thoughts, once again seeing everyone staring at me, and the sparking blue lake. "Don't do that to us again!" Biana huffed. "You just missed me too much." I joked, giving them a weak smile. "I have to bring her to my office, NOW!" Elwin stated. "I want to go with you!" Fitz and I both said at the same time. "No, you boys need sleep. It's been a long day for all of us. You won't do Sophie any good by damaging your own health for her." "He's right" Alden added.

Grady and Edaline were in a crying heap. I felt sorry for them. Their second daughter, lost again. "Mr. and Ms. Ruwen? Would you like to accompany me?" Elwin asked softly. They both nodded their heads. When they had stepped into the light, Emery announced, "We have decided to prevent panic among some citizens, we will try to keep this quiet for now." "Yes of course."        Mr. Forkle agreed. His eyes were red and puffy, but his voice didn't waver. I had forgotten that he was the one that basically watched over Sophie for more than half of her life. The twelve councillors left, as did Mr. Forkle. Leaving me, and the Vackers. Alden cleared his throat. "Want to stay with us Keefe?" he offered. "Yeah sure, whatever." I grumbled.

Fitz left me into his room. I got out a small mattress and a silk blanket to sleep on the floor. Once I had gotten all ready. I just sat on my "bed" and stared at the floor. "You know it was your fault she broke." Fitz growled from his bed. I clenched my teeth. I knew it was my fault, 100%, but I was trying not to break myself, and Fitz was just taking his anger out on me. Being his friend since, forever, I knew that it was how he dealt with loss, but I was on edge. " I know Fitz, I almost broke because of it, but at least I don't take my anger out on my friends." "Well at least I didn't betray everyone to join the Neverseen." "At least she loves me!" It became deadly quiet. You could've heard someone levitating through the room. "Well see who she loves more." Fitz said. And with that, We both fell into a deep sleep.
