Ok, so I ran out of ideas. The next chapter will most likely be the last one. I just wanted to finish this story so that you all don't end on a cliffhanger, but be warned. The ending is pretty bad. I MIGHT write an alternate ending later so for those who want another ending for this, I need some more time to think about it. Thank you and happy reading! <3
Previously:
Walking out of the building, pulling a disappointed Keefe with me, I walked by a jewelry store with many beautiful pieces of accessories. I saw one instinctively beautiful necklace, and I instinctively went up to my neck to touch Keefe's.
What I wasn't expecting was to touch bare skin. Quickly shoving Keefe's items back over to him, I checked all my pockets and neck twice.
"What's wrong Foster?"
"THE NECKLACE. IT'S GONE!"
---
Sophie's POV
"What do mean it's GONE?! Foster this isn't the time for your usual clumsiness!" Keefe laughed nervously, thinking it was a joke. But no, it wasn't. She checked all over around them, but it wasn't there. Great, Sophie The Clumsy has lost the most precious stone in all of the Lost Cities.
"No keefe I'm not kidding! It's gone!" Then I remembered the pool...THE POOL! It had probably fallen off when Keefe and her had messed around in the pool!
Roughly grabbing Keefe's smooth hand, she dragged him back the way they had come, sprinting. "Whoa! Foster slow down! Did you remember something?!"
I didn't answer him but continued to sprint ahead, sidestepping annoyed looking pedestrians. Keefe still not understanding the severity of the situation, was now running alongside me so I no longer needed to drag him.
No POV:
Finally reaching the same pool that we they fooled around in, Sophie ran in and immediately started scanning the bottom of the pool for a the beaded necklace that had been lost. Keefe understanding what his blonde haired friend was trying to do, helped in the search around the sides of the pool. Neither of them having any luck, Sophie continued to scan the pool deck as well as the Women's locker room.
Finally resorting to desperate measures, she went around asking anyone and everyone if they had seen the elegant beaded necklace, but all of them shook their heads saying they had seen no such thing.
Man, the council was going to have her head if she didn't find that necklace.
Asking the lifeguard on duty, she felt relief wash over her body when he told her that he had turned it into the check in room in the lost and found.....but was even more stressed when the front desk lady told her that someone had already claimed it.
Sophie started swearing in 20 different languages as Keefe tried to calm her down. "Foster chill! We'll find it!" Keefe said optimistically.
"Can you at least tell me the name of who had claimed it?!" Sophie pressed the poor lady for questions. When she kept shaking her head and nervously trying to calm down the angry elf, Keefe finally was able to drag her away from questioning the human to death.
"This is bad Keefe! REALLY BAD! Do you know what will happen if the council found out. Or worse, some other elf finds it!" Sophie went into a panicking mess, ranting on and on about the possible outcomes if they didn't find that necklace. None of them were good.
"Calm down Foster!" The elder blonde said for about the 10th time. "We first need to focus on finding the necklace. Hopefully some nice young lady had taken it, and with my amazing powers of charm will swoon them into giving it back!" Keefe tried to Joke but his stressed companion ignored him. She only closed her eyes and rubbed her temples in a circular motion.
"Hey Fost-"
"Be quite Keefe!" Sophie said in annoyance.
"Do you have a lead?" He looked at her quizzically.
Sophie only remained silent.
Keefe started to play around with items that he saw around himself (like flowers and rocks), when Sophie's head suddenly shot up. "Follow me blockhead!" Sophie yelled into Keefe's ear as he tried to neatly stack the rocks on top of each other. Keefe spun around to be met with an impatient Foster. "I'll have you know that my head is very good looking!" He whined while patting his head.
"uh huh, believe what you Sencen, but just shut up and follow me!" He grumpily followed her, all while trying to tell Sophie about how amazing his hair was.
As they walked around what seemed to be a circle, Sophie told Keefe that she could (somehow) with her telepathic ability, sense a trail of where the stone had gone. It seemed like a solid statement, but as the minutes bled into hours, Keefe was having a hard time believing if Sophie was telling the truth, or just getting really desperate.
