THANK YOU FOR 1k READS! I am making this chapter longer! <3
(Sophie's POV)
The pain went on for a few seconds until it stopped. The bright lights turned off, and people rushed into the room. I fell to her knees, unable to draw out any strength. Strong arms carried me to a nice bed. Elwin stuffed many elixirs down my throat, before I was able to see properly again.
Everyone seemed to have been ushered out of the room. "Sorry! I should've warned you that it was going to be painful. The councill wouldn't allow it, because they thought you wouldn't do it if you knew." Elwin apologized. I wold have done it anyways, but a little warning would have been nice. I rubbed my head, remembering the pain.
"What are the results?" I finally asked. "Well..." "Elwin what aRE THE RESULTS?" My voice rising. I hated it when everyone treated me like a little kid. Even during the Neverseen war, everyone thought that I was some piece of glass. The only one that didn't think that I was a weak little girl, was Keefe.
"There is good news, and bad news." "Bad news." I asked, wanting to get it out of the way. "Well, your dad was a councilor at some point, but his blood is very hard to understand. Good news, I know who your mother is." "Well, who is it?" A part of my was so excited, I was ready to jump out of my seat, but the other part remembered what Mr. Forkle had said. If I knew my parents, it could change everything. But I did want to know who my parents were.
"I think I should tell everyone all at once." I pouted as Elwin opened the door to let everyone in. Fitz, Linh and Biana came over to me and hug me. Dex and gave me our secret smile, that meant he wanted to know if I was okay. I nodded. Tam gave me an awkward hand shake. Keefe didn't seem to be there, which was disappointing, but then two hands covered my eyes. "Hey Foster. Guess who." Fitz's voice rang through my ears. If he could see my eyes. I would've been rolling them. "Keefe, even though you are mimicking Fitz, You gave it away by saying Foster." "Awww. Foster knows me." He teased in his normal voice, uncovering my eyes. I opened my mouth to say something, but then closed it as Elwin started to talk.
"I have gotten the results, but am unable to find who her father is. However, I do know that he was once a councilor, and her mother was indeed an old ancient. Sometimes referred to as legends." The councilors eyes seemed annoyed, that they once had a councillor with a kid. Councillors were not allowed to get married, so they wouldn't be distracted by anything other than their duties. "Her mother was...Empress Aniriah."
Everyone gasped, as I, being the clueless one, said "Empress who?" "Empress Aniriah. She was known as one of the most powerful elves of all time." Biana squealed. Fitz snorted, "I guess Sophie takes that spot now."
----------Time skip with Sophie in her room----------
I lay in bed, wondering how this new information would change my everyday life. I had personally asked everyone to not tell about my biological parents. I didn't want to be treated even more differently because of my parents.
I screamed into my pillow out of frustration. Why didn't these pillows muffle any sound? I heard something crash behind me. I instantly knew who it was. "Keefe, what do you want?"
(Keefe's POV)
I pace my room, deciding weather or not I should go over to Sophie's house. She probably wanted time alone. It was a ton of new information that she had to process, and think about how it could change her life. I understand why she asked us not to tell.
I sighed, finally deciding that I should go to Sophie's house. She had enough alone time, and not having anyone to talk to could lead to her trying to handle everything herself. Before I could talk myself out of it, I yelled "HAVENFEILD!" and stepped into the light, appearing just outside of her house. "Too late now." I whispered to myself. I knocked on the door. Luckily, it wasn't Grady who opened it.
"Hello Keefe! Come in!" Edaline had a crazy grin on her face. She handed my a plate of Mallowmelts. I politely declined, wanting to see Sophie. I raced up the stairs, quickly arriving in front of her room.
A sad, heartbreaking scream split the air, even though it was slightly muffled. All of Foster's emotions engulfed me, and memories rushed back to me. When we were plotting against the Neverseen, playing together in her room, when I first saw Foster, her face when she saw I had "betrayed" her, and even when she was fading in Elwin's bed, with bullhorn curled up beside her.
I took a deep breathe, trying to collect myself. I slowly turned the doorknob, and looked to see Sophie with her head smashed into a pillow. I tried to make my way over to her, but tripped on her human backpack, crashing into the table with Iggy. I groaned in pain.
"Keefe, what do you want?" I froze. Foster wasn't looking at me. She still had her head in the pillow. Iggy was on my head, and I gently put him back into his cage, before answering her. "Sophie, you can't do all of this alone." "Oh, and now you treating me like some two year old now too? I though we had an agreement." My heart shattered. Sophie and I had made a promise, that if she didn't pity me, I wouldn't treat her like everyone else. Not like I wanted to or would have anyways. Foster was mad at me now. "Sophie, all I'm saying is that you can't do everything alone." I sat next to her on the bed. "Can you please look at me?" I pleaded. She somehow sensed the hurt in my voice, and sat up to face me.
Her face was littered with worry, and her blonde hair stuck up every which way. She was utterly exhausted. "I'm sorry Keefe." "You shouldn't be sorry. If I were you, I would have taken it much worse. You're really strong Foster. All I'm saying is that you need support." I soothed. I couldn't let her be guilty. Not after the last time. She didn't have anything to be guilty about. She was beautiful, smart, amazing, understanding, and the best friend you could ask for.
We were really close now. She was so sad, confused, and angry, I wanted to cheer her up.I acted on instinct. I kissed her. It was amazing. I she tasted good, possibly better that mallowmelts. I quickly, and reluctantly pulled away. Before I could make sense of her jumbled emotions, Grady burst through the door, looking overprotective. I didn't want to lose any limbs, so I pulled out my homing beacon. "See you later Foster!" I said as I was whisked away by the light
Thank you again for 1k reads! Also, comment on should I say who Sophie's dad is? And who should he be? I have no ideas. Till next time! Have an awesome day!<3 <3 <3
