(Sophie's POV)

When we walked into the mansion, Della instantly greeted us. "Mallowmelt Sophie?" "Sure!" Keefe tried to steal one, but Della caught him, and vanished. He ended up snatching air, and tripping. "None for you Keefe. They'll be gone in a matter of seconds." Della scolded. Fitz and I snickered at his "predicament".

"Where is dad?" Fitz asked. "He's in his office." In Della's distraction, Keefe was able to steal 5 mallowmelts, and sneak away. "Thank you Ms. Vacker." "No problem sweetie." I nodded, catching up with Fitz and Keefe.

"Come in!" Alden's crisp accent called as we knocked on the door. "Ahh, Sophie. I do need to talk to you. Fitz, Keefe, I have to ask you to leave the room. I can't have you influence Sophie." They both hesitantly nodded, leaving the room.

"Sophie, what I'm about to tell you is entirely up to you." "Shoot" He sighed. "Well...I know you'd like to know who your biological parents are, but that would require a DNA test. Would that be okay with you? The councill, including myself are also a bit curious weather or not you have ancient blood."

The blood drained from my face, instantly thinking of needles drawing out her blood, even though she as sure elves didn't use needles. I gulped. I really did want to know who my parents are, but she didn't know if she wanted to get her DNA tested. Then I remembered something that Keefe had to me after the Neverseen battle. "You don't gain anything without sacrifice," was his words. "I-I'll do it." I said, pulling as much confidence as possible, but my head was thinking "NO! absolutely NOT!

Alden opened the door, and down tumbled two boys. They were definitely trying to eavesdrop, but luckily, the walls were mostly soundproof. I couldn't help but smile as the two looked up shamefully, at a annoyed looking Alden.

--------Time skip to when Sophie is getting her DNA tested--------

"You okay Foster?" Keefe asked me, rubbing my back. "I'm fine." I lied. I felt a little more comfortable, since I had practically forced the councill to have Elwin do the testing on me.

When we reached his door, Elwin was bright and cheery. "Sophie! You are still my most visited patient." Keefe snickered. I glared at him, even though I found it a bit hilarious myself. "Keefe, you come in as a close second." Keefe's face was priceless. I laughed at him. "Enough of small talk. Come in, everyone is already here." we stepped inside. There was a little room that she hadn't noticed before. Everyone was there, including the councill.

"Thank you for coming today Ms. Foster." Emery greeted. "Pleased to be here" I slightly bowed. "Okay. Sophie I need you to go into that room." he pointed to the new room. I hesitated for a moment. Keefe instantly noticed, because he wrapped his arms around me, giving me a gentle squeeze.

Before I could change my mind, I walked into the room. It instantly locked, leaving me in a room, not knowing what to do. That was, until a bright light filled the entire room. A searing pain filled her mind, while her body felt like it was on fire...
