Heartbreak

(Keefe POV)

 I was heading over to Everglen to spend some quality time with my bro Fitz. He let me in through the big gleaming Everglen gates that prevent people from light leaping inside the property. "Hey Fitz!" Fitz chuckled. "We should just make this your home. You come almost as often as me." he joked. I nudged him playfully. 

Once we were inside, I talked to Fitz about another one of my master pranks. I've been trying to get him to help me pull one off, but ever since year 2, he never helped me again. 

In our first years, I had convinced him to pull a prank on my our universe teacher. However, we had gotten caught, and Fitzy poo and I had detention for the first time. Fitz got yelled at by Alden, and I just ignored my parents' insults as usual. He never helped me with a prank since. I giggled as I recalled the story to Fitz. Then I busted out laughing, recalling his face when we got caught. Even back then he was always the "Golden Boy." Biana wouldn't stop teasing him for a month. Fitz cracked a smile. 

Then, as if on cue, Biana busted into Fitz's room. She frowned at the sight of me rolling on the ground laughing, and Fitz looking at me amused. "Keefe, can I talk to you please?" She yelled through my fit of giggles. I nodded, unable to speak, and followed her into her pretty pink room. 

(Biana POV)

When keefe came to Everglen, I knew it was now or never. Sophie still wasn't here yet, so I could talk to him alone (as long as Fitz didn't eavesdrop). So I asked to talk to him, and he followed me into my room.This is it. I'm going to ask him to the dance. "Well... umm, erm...Keefe would you like to go to the dace with me?" I asked hopefully. "Well I was hoping to get Sophie's reply first, before accepting other invitations." He said apologetically.

 I was surprised by this, since Fitz said he would ask Sophie, and Sophie had told me that she did have a crush on Fitz. "Oh, but I thought Sophie is going with Fitz. Maybe she didn't want to hurt your feelings. There are many other girls that would love to go with you." I said, trying to convince him to go with me. "Look, Biana, I love you, but as a sister." My heart sank. He didn't return my feelings. "However.." he continued. I listened in anticipation, hoping he changed his mind. "I would love to go to the dance with you." 

My heart exploded. Maybe Keefe didn't love me, but I will take a night as his date. "Ok!" Then I did the stupidest thing ever. I kissed him. This took him by surprise, his body flinching. It only lasted a few seconds, but it was still nice. "I had to do that once." I smiled. Then he gave me a supportive smile, but I could tell he was distracted, but by what? 

(Keefe's POV)

I can't believe Sophie would pity me. If she wanted to go with Fitz, she could have just said no. While I was deep in thought. I promised Biana that she could be my date. She was delighted, but I was still troubled with Sophie. She never had pitied me before, and she knew I hated it. 

I was deep in thought, when Biana surged forward. Soon she was kissing me. I had already told her that I didn't think of her that way, but before I could push her away, she pulled back. Then she explained why she did it. However, while I was kissing Biana, I felt so many emotions coming off her. Sadness, love, passion, rejection, happiness. But there were a few emotions that I knew weren't coming off of her. They were near the door (that Biana wisely left open). It was a mixture of sadness, regret, pain, confusion, anger, jealousy, and betrayal. Some got mixed in with Biana's emotions, so I had a hard time telling the difference.

When I looked back to see who it was, they were gone. I hoped I didn't just make the biggest mistake in my life.
