(Sophie's POV)
As I walked into the room with all my friends behind me, I cautiously looked around the room to find all the councilors staring at me.
I tried to look sophisticated, and not draw attention, but of course, I tripped on the hem of my dress. Biana had insisted I wear it, to show that I am taking the meeting seriously. Everyone else was also wearing formal attire (besides Keefe), so I didn't want to look like the odd one out. I knew I should have just worn pants, or a shorter dress.
Cursing under my breathe at my incompetence to give in to Biana, I seemed to be slowly falling to the floor. Closing my eyes to spare me the humiliation, I waited for impact. I never came. I opened my eyes. Looking up I saw no one other than Keefe Sencen, holding my waist, keeping me from falling to the floor. His eyes sparkling with amusement, he commented "I know the hair is too much to handle, but you don't have to keep falling for me Foster." Rolling my eyes, I steadied myself and looked back to the councilors.
"Sorry" I apologized. Emery cleared his throat, and his loud, clear voice filled the room. "We have called you here today to discuss the matter of your mother. As the daughter of one of the legends, you must learn to control your powers, as well as look after what now rightfully belongs to you, but we also think that you might be able to use it to a small extent. Your blood not being fully a legend, but just enough to let you have multiple abilities."
Councillor Oralie held out a small velvet pillow. On it lay a small gem. It was about one quarter of the size of her pinky. It was the most beautiful gem she had ever seen, and that was saying something, considering the lost cities had them all over the place.
The gem was definitely blue, but it flashed different colors.
"What is it?" I asked the council, but not taking my eyes off the gem. Something inside me was attracted to it, and I couldn't look away. "This is a very old crystal. It was invented by the very first technopath, to withhold a legend's power until they gained control, including their final form. However, in order for it to work, they would have to put some of their power inside. This stone was your mother's and the only known one we can find. You must all swear not to tell anyone that is not here today. I am afraid that if an elf finds it, or even one of the rebel ogres...let's just leave it at "It would be extremely bad."" He let that hang in the air. Great. Now I have to make sure I protect this extremely important gem that is smaller than my finger and not lose it. This is going to end well. "I will do my best." I assured them, but I doubted my own abilities.
I turned around, all my friends following, and exited the room.
Sorry I have not updated in like A WEEK! I have been working on a new book called "Camp Lumanaria" I know that Title sucks, and tell me what other title ideas you have. The book is basically about HOO/PJO and KOTLC all as normal teenagers in high school (juniors). You do not have to read PJO or HOO to understand the story.
